Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager (Operations) to lead and oversee the daily operations of our alcohol and confectionery business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring legal compliance, optimizing costs, and leading a high-performing team to achieve business goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations Management

  • Oversee the full operational process covering procurement, production, packaging, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficiency and product quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all departments.

2. Financial & Cost Control

  • Prepare and manage annual budgets, cost analysis, and profit & loss statements.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock management.

3. Supply Chain & Logistics

  • Manage end-to-end supply chain operations including vendor management, procurement, and distribution planning.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for favorable pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure on-time product delivery and efficient logistics coordination.

4. Legal & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all business operations comply with Malaysian laws and regulations related to alcohol and food products.
  • Maintain and renew necessary licenses and permits (e.g., liquor license, import/export permits).
  • Liaise with relevant government agencies and authorities when required.

5. Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team across production, warehouse, logistics, and quality departments.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor team members to build a strong performance-driven culture.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement professional development plans.

6. Product & Market Strategy

  • Collaborate with the marketing team on product development, brand positioning, and promotional strategies.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.
  • Support innovation in product lines and packaging based on consumer trends.

7. Quality & Customer Satisfaction

  • Establish and monitor quality control standards across all stages of production.
  • Address customer complaints and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Maintain the company's reputation for excellence in product safety and quality.

8. Safety & Health Compliance

  • Enforce workplace safety standards and hygiene practices across all facilities.
  • Conduct regular audits and training to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Food Science, or related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 8–12 years in operations or general management, preferably in the FMCG, alcohol, or confectionery industries.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead large teams and manage cross-functional operations.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of budgeting, cost management, and financial reporting.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiar with local laws governing alcohol production, distribution, and sales.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Language: Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an added advantage.
