Macarthur National Limited is an owner, developer, and operator of social infrastructure assets across Victoria, Australia. Through our two established brands — Montessori Beginnings (long day care) and Zest Living (retirement living) — we are expanding rapidly and building a long-term presence in the sector.

To support this growth, we are developing a dynamic Operational Support Hub in Malaysia, covering legal, HR, marketing, finance, and administrative functions. This hub will become a core engine for Macarthur's expansion, and we are now seeking a highly capable HR & Legal Counsel to shape, build, and lead key structures within this platform.

What You'll Do
Legal Leadership
  • Build an internal legal ecosystem that strengthens governance, compliance, and risk management across the Group.
  • Analyse laws and regulations (Australia & Malaysia) to ensure the organisation operates safely and responsibly.
  • Provide support across legal documentation — drafting, reviewing, auditing, and finalising key agreements.
  • Develop and refine internal policies to align with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
  • Maintain legal records and ensure all practices comply with relevant policies and frameworks.
  • Exposure to the Australian legal landscape (Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, NES) is a strong advantage.

Human Resources & People Operations
  • Interpret employment contracts and lead payroll-related compliance.
  • Manage and optimise the organisation's HR system.
  • Partner with operations to manage the full employee lifecycle — hiring, onboarding, performance management, compliance, and offboarding.
  • Maintain HR policies, employee files, and workplace relations processes, including handling employee concerns.
  • Collaborate with the education team on training, induction, and professional development programs.
  • Support workplace health and safety initiatives across the organisation.

Contract & Administrative Support
  • Work closely with finance to manage government funding administration and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with the development team on contract administration systems.
  • Support the sales team with Zest Living sales and rental agreements.
  • Provide corporate secretarial assistance as required.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
  • More than 10 years' of experience in corporate, commercial, and/or HR-focused legal work.
  • Bachelor's degree required; a Law degree is strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of HR functions (recruitment, compensation, development, compliance).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; HRMS experience is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate, business, and regulatory law; ability to apply legal principles in real-world scenarios.
