Job Purpose:

To prepare and develop detailed technical drawings, layouts, and schematics for Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects, including high-voltage substations. The Drafter will ensure all drawings meet engineering standards, project requirements, and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, revise, and maintain detailed engineering drawings for transmission lines and substations (e.g., 132kV, 275kV, 500kV systems).
  • Work closely with engineers to interpret design concepts and translate them into accurate technical drawings.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, industry codes, and safety standards.
  • Maintain drawing records, revisions, and documentation according to project guidelines.
  • Support site teams by providing updated drawings and technical clarifications when required.
  • Coordinate with consultants, clients, and internal departments to resolve drawing-related issues.
  • Participate in design review meetings and incorporate feedback into drawing updates.
  • Assist in preparing as-built drawings upon project completion.

Requirements:

  • Diploma / Certificate in Drafting, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of drafting experience in the Transmission & Distribution sector.
  • Hands-on experience with substation layout drawings (e.g., GIS/AIS substations).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or equivalent CAD software.
  • Familiarity with electrical and civil T&D drawings such as SLDs, earthing layouts, cable routing, and structural details.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substation projects.
  • Knowledge of TNB or utility drawing standards.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
