Head of Product Research

Job Summary:

We are seeking a visionary Head of Product Research to lead our client's expanding research organisation. In this role, you will transform deep user and market insights into clear, data-driven product strategies. You will define the research agenda, mentor a multidisciplinary team, and collaborate closely with Data Science, Product, Design, and Engineering to ensure every product decision is evidence-based and delivers measurable value to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute a research vision and roadmap aligned with product and business objectives.
  • Mentor, develop, and grow a high-performing team of UX researchers, market analysts, and behavioural scientists.
  • Manage research budgets, tools, and vendor relationships to maximise impact.

2. User & Market Insights

  • Lead a variety of research studies, including interviews, surveys, ethnography, diary studies, and usability tests to understand user needs and pain points.
  • Analyse competitive intelligence, market trends, and customer feedback to uncover product opportunities and guide positioning.
  • Maintain and evolve personas, jobs-to-be-done frameworks, and customer journey maps.

3. Data-Driven Experimentation

  • Partner with Data Science to design experiments, analyse behavioural data, and validate hypotheses.
  • Integrate qualitative and quantitative insights into actionable recommendations that inform product roadmaps and go-to-market strategies.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure insights influence prioritisation and feature design.
  • Present compelling, evidence-based narratives to executives and stakeholders, championing user-centric decision-making.

5. Process Excellence & Thought Leadership

  • Establish best practices for research methodology, ethics, and documentation.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, continuous learning, and innovation, representing CXS Analytics at industry events and forums.

Job Requirements:

1. Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in HCI, Psychology, Market Research, Data Science, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in product or user research, including 3+ years managing research teams in B2B SaaS or technology environments.
  • Proven ability to translate research insights into product strategies and measurable business outcomes.

2. Technical Skills

  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, statistical analysis, and experimental design.
  • Proficiency with modern research and analytics tools (e.g., UserTesting, Qualtrics, Dovetail, SPSS/R/Python, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with agile development processes, A/B testing, and product analytics platforms (Mixpanel, Amplitude, GA4).

3. Soft Skills

  • Strategic thinker and persuasive communicator, able to distil complex data into actionable insights.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and scaling high-performing research teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-growth environment.
