Accountant / Finance Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Accountant / Finance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing full-spectrum finance operations in Malaysia, including project cost accounting, tax compliance, financial reporting, and statutory submissions. The role ensures accurate financial control for engineering and construction projects while maintaining compliance with Malaysian regulations and MFRS standards. Strong coordination with China HQ, local authorities, banks, and auditors is required; therefore, Mandarin proficiency is essential.

Job Responsibilities
1. Project & Cost Accounting

• Handle project settlement with construction teams based on contracts, progress claims, settlement sheets, and pre-payment records.
• Maintain detailed ledgers for contracts, materials, accounts receivable/payable, and reimbursement workflows.
• Prepare payment applications, monitor collection progress, and ensure timely settlement of project funds.

2. Financial Operations & Reporting

• Manage daily financial transactions, review and verify supporting documents, and process payments in accordance with budget approvals.
• Maintain and update accounting books, ledgers, and vouchers; conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and submit reports to management.

3. Tax & Compliance Management

• Ensure full compliance with Malaysian financial regulations, tax laws, and MFRS accounting standards.
• Manage invoice issuance, tax declarations, statutory submissions, and communication with LHDN, SSM, auditors, and other regulatory bodies.
• Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings and year-end tax finalization; ensure correct calculation and timely payment of all taxes.
• Maintain proper documentation and tax ledgers.

4. Budgeting & Cost Control

• Review expenses and cost-related documents according to approved plans and budgets.
• Track budget utilization and prepare annual budget reports.

5. Payroll & Statutory Contributions

• Administer payroll, allowances, claims, and deductions.
• Manage EPF, SOCSO, EIS contributions and ensure timely submissions and payments.

6. Banking & Stakeholder Liaison

• Coordinate with local banks, tax authorities, consultants, and government agencies to support smooth financial operations.
• Handle bank account management, financial documentation, and statutory compliance matters.

7. Asset & Document Management

• Oversee the procurement and management of company assets.
• Conduct periodic asset inventories, maintain asset records, and ensure proper filing of financial and contractual documents.

8. Additional Duties

• Perform other finance-related tasks assigned by management to support business operations.

Job Requirements
Education & Certification

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
• Must possess a recognized professional accounting qualification (MIA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent).

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant finance/accounting experience.
• Male candidates aged 25–45 with experience in M&E engineering, construction, or manufacturing industries will be strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

• Familiar with Malaysian MFRS accounting standards and basic understanding of IFRS.
• Required knowledge of LHDN's e-Invoicing implementation framework.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and commonly used accounting/financial software.
• Strong analytical skills, able to work under pressure, and highly responsible.

Language Skills

• Fluency in Mandarin, English, and Malay is required.
• Mandarin proficiency is essential for communication with China-based stakeholders.

Other Requirements

• Strong time management and communication skills.
• Good understanding of Malaysian Companies Act, Tax Act, and local regulatory requirements.
