With a presence in over 30 countries, BGA staff provide bespoke services to clients across the region. We seek a talented, highly motivated Legal Associate for Contracts to be a part of our regional Operations Team.

Applicants for this role must be based in and eligible to work in Malaysia, Thailand or Vietnam.

Position Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with BGA Legal managers to explain, negotiate and achieve execution of commercial transactions.
• Assist with developing and drafting appropriate contract language to protect the assets and interests of the organization.
• Assist with the identification, development, implementation and administration of policies and processes in accordance with corporate objectives.
• Work with BGA Legal managers on issues related to the organization's legal, regulatory and contractual compliance.
• Demonstrate an understanding of legal contract concepts, negotiation strategies and efficient automation of contract processes.
• Communicate company contract policies and requirements to employees and other internal stakeholders and address areas of concern regarding individual contracts projects.
• Identify legal and regulatory issues with product and marketing initiatives, operational matters and customer engagements, including privacy and data security issues, and work with the appropriate resources to devise effective and creative solutions.
• Maintain accurate contract records and report to the BGA Head of Legal as needed.
• Other duties as required.

Job Requirements

We seek an exceptionally collegial, highly motivated self-starter who is excited about helping BGA function more efficiently and productively. She or he must work independently and as an effective team member in supporting and anticipating company needs and filling gaps. Qualifications include:

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (MS365) and Salesforce, along with an ability to learn and adopt new technologies is required.
• A university legal degree (e.g. LLB, LLM), compliance certificates or a paralegal certificate with 1-5 years of in-house or contracting experience preferred.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and critical thinking skills, with strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact and build relationships with executives and staff at all levels of the business.
• Experience with international tax, data privacy and anti-corruption law is a plus.
• An ability to interact effectively and work in partnership with a diverse group of internal and external contacts.
• Strong business sense, excellent judgment, a growth mindset and commitment to professionalism and collegiality.
• Strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills are required.
• Professional level written and verbal communication skills in fluent English is required. Knowledge of one or more Indo-Pacific languages is a plus.
