Role Overview

We are seeking M&E Engineers to plan, design, and deliver mechanical and electrical building systems from concept to completion. You will collaborate closely with architects, civil/structural engineers, QS, contractors, authorities, and clients to ensure compliant, cost-effective, and buildable designs.

Depending on your background, you'll be aligned to either Mechanical or Electrical discipline (or a blended M&E role).

Key Responsibilities

Common (M&E)

• Lead/assist in concept, schematic, detailed design and tender documentation for M&E systems.
• Perform load calculations, sizing, equipment selection, and coordination drawings.
• Prepare specifications, BOQ, design reports, and tender addenda/RFI responses.
• Conduct authority submissions and liaise with relevant bodies (e.g., ST, DOSH, JKKP, BOMBA, Local Council, IWK).
• Participate in technical meetings, shop drawing reviews, value engineering, and site inspections/T&C.
• Ensure compliance with UBBL, MS standards, GreenRE/LEED guidelines (where applicable), and client requirements.
• Support project scheduling, risk management, and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Mechanical (HVAC/Plumbing/Fire Protection)

• Design HVAC systems (chilled water, VRF, AHU/FCU, ventilation, ducting, BMS interfaces).
• Design domestic water, sanitary & sewer, stormwater, gas piping, and drainage systems.
• Design fire protection (sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, FM200/water mist) and coordinate with BOMBA requirements.
• Perform CFD assessments (if needed) and thermal comfort evaluations.
• Develop equipment schedules, layout plans, schematics, and as-built documentation.

Electrical (LV/ELV/Power/Lighting)

• Design LV distribution, transformer/SMDB/MDB, earthing, lightning protection, and emergency power (genset/UPS).
• Design ELV systems (ICT, security/CCTV, access control, PA/BGM, MATV, fire alarm, intercom).
• Conduct lighting calculations (e.g., Dialux) and short circuit/voltage drop studies.
• Coordinate with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for supply applications, submissions, and metering.
• Design LV distribution, transformer/SMDB/MDB, earthing, lightning protection, and emergency power (genset/UPS).
• Design ELV systems (ICT, security/CCTV, access control, PA/BGM, MATV, fire alarm, intercom).
• Conduct lighting calculations (e.g., Dialux) and short circuit/voltage drop studies.
• Coordinate with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for supply applications, submissions, and metering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or closely related field).
• 1–8+ years' experience in building services/M&E design or consultancy (fresh graduates encouraged to apply for junior roles).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; familiarity with Revit/BIM is an advantage.
• Strong grasp of local codes: UBBL, MS standards, ST guidelines, BOMBA requirements, DOSH/JKKP.
• Solid communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred/Good-to-Have

• Membership with IEM; registration with BEM (Graduate Engineer/PE status).
• Experience with GreenRE/LEED, ASHRAE, SLL, CIBSE, IEC/IEEE standards.
• Tools: HAP/eQuest (HVAC), Dialux/Relux (lighting), ETAP/SKM (power studies), Navisworks/Revit (BIM), HydraCAD or similar.
• Site experience: T&C, authority inspection coordination, defect resolution.
