Overview

  1. This Engineer role is to support the transfer of product from design stage to manufacture for Knowles EMI Filter product range, leaded capacitors & custom ceramic capacitor assemblies. This will be under the control and in conjunction with the Engineering department based in the Knowles Precision Devices R&D centre in Norwich.
  2. The role will be based within the Engineering team, primarily assisting with the transfer of new products from NPI into production for EMI filters and custom assemblies. Also aiding with mechanical and electrical design of the components and the associated jigs and fixtures for their manufacture.
  3. This role will also include engineering supervision of the EMI Filter and custom assembly manufacturing processes including document control, handling process issues, process improvement and ensuring all current manufacturing standards and yields are maintained or improved.
  4. The candidate will be working alongside the KPD Array Engineering Team in the UK so must be willing, if required, to adjust working hours to maintain communication with the UK team and customers worldwide. The job will involve detailed interaction with the team in the UK and other Knowles sites worldwide. Therefore the candidate must be able to travel and prepared to have extended stays abroad during the training period.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To work within a team to support manufacturing sites for the process of assembling EMI filters   and custom assemblies.
  • To work within the manufacturing site(s), ensuring procedures are updated and followed, including failure analysis, yield analysis and process improvements.
  • To assist with maintenance and control of the drawings and documents generated
  • To assist with costing and preparation of quotations for Knowles products
  • To conduct failure analysis when required
  • To assist in sourcing and specifying manufacturing and test equipment.
  • To participate in new product & process development, including the design of new or modified parts and required tooling / jigs / fixtures to facilitate successful transfer to production.
  • To work with staff across all sites to facilitate successful transfer from design to manufacture.
  • To work with Quality to assist in defining and managing qualification plans and qualification reports.
  • In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Strong command of the English language, both spoken & written.
  • Skilled and practically experienced engineer, preferably with discrete component knowledge.
  • Education should be to graduate Degree/Master level preferably in Electronics / Electrical or mechanical Engineering or related subject preferred.
  • Experience of reflow soldering techniques in a benefit.
  • Strong attention to detail and propensity for accuracy of work
  • Experience of AutoCad preferred. Experience of Solidworks an advantage
  • Experience in Microsoft office packages (word, excel etc).
  • Strong writing skills suited to writing and formatting work instructions in a clear and unambiguous way.
  • Self-directed, highly professional and collaborative
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • IT or coding experience useful.
