HSE Officer

About the role

As the HSE Officer at Wasco AgroTech Sdn Bhd (Formerly known as PMT Industries Sdn Bhd), you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety and environmental compliance of the company's operations. This full-time role is based in Shah Alam, Selangor and will play a crucial part in maintaining a safe and sustainable workplace.

Main Responsibilities

• Enforce and monitor adherence to safety policies, procedures, and regulations within the production area and on-site.
• Investigate any accidents or near-misses promptly, analyze root causes, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure the availability and proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment necessary for a safe working environment. Conduct regular checks for functionality and compliance. As per Employee Handbook Section II: Professional Responsibilities, 2.05 Dress Code (c), employees provided with uniforms must wear the attire specified by Health & Safety Procedures and the Head of Department.
• To take meeting minutes during HSE committee meetings and distribute them to all committee members.
• To conduct Safety Standdown sessions and share lessons learned from incidents with all employees.
• To ensure compliance with legal requirements as listed in the established legal register.
• To communicate and implement HSE procedures to employees.
• To assist in preparing HSE reports, including monthly reports and updates to the HSE Master Action Log (if applicable).
• To ensure staff attendance at nominated HSE training sessions and monitor training progress.
• To ensure all Persons in Charge (PICs) conduct and record Risk Containment Audits every month.
• To assist in engaging constructively with employees and contractors, and maintain records of such engagements.
• To identify potential HSE recognition and incentives winners based on criteria established by the HSE Committee.
• Provide safety induction to employees, contractors, and visitors, covering safe practices, emergency response, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• To implement recommendations from reports such as the Noise Risk Assessment, CHRA (Chemical Health Risk Assessment), and CEM (Chemical Exposure Monitoring) Reports.
• To ensure all departments close care cards in a timely manner.
• To assist Senior Executive, HSE in implementing ISO requirements at WTSB premises.
• To coordinate HSE campaigns, such as: 'See something Do Something', 'Pause, Process and Proceed'.
• To update the weight of scheduled wastes at the waste storage area and monitor its housekeeping.
• To liaise with local authorities for multiple visits or inspections, or as needed in any specific situation.
• Any other duties associated with the position as and when necessary, from time to time.

Competency Requirement

• Minimum Degree / Diploma.
• Prefer a candidate with Safety & Health Officer (Green Book) or Site Safety Supervisor (Yellow Book) competencies.
• Minimum 2 years of working experience is preferred

Skill

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Knowledge in health, safety & environment regulations.
