The Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) is responsible for providing independent verification and oversight of marine operations to ensure compliance with industry, statutory, and client requirements. The MWS evaluates marine risks associated with offshore lifting, transportation, installation, and heavy engineering operations, and issues marine warranty approvals, certificates, and recommendations.
This role is critical in mitigating operational and financial risks in offshore projects, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficient execution of marine operations.
Description
- Conduct marine warranty surveys for offshore transportation, lifting, installation, and heavy engineering operations.
- Review marine spread, vessel capabilities, stability, and operational planning to identify potential risks.
- Issue Marine Warranty Certificates (MWCs) and provide written approval or recommendations for lifting, load-out, and offshore transport operations.
- Evaluate and monitor compliance with client, industry, and statutory standards (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, OCIMF, Class Society requirements).
- Assess vessel suitability, offshore equipment, and operational procedures for project-specific requirements.
- Review marine risk assessments, method statements, and engineering documentation for offshore operations.
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and clients to provide expert marine assurance advice.
- Monitor ongoing operations offshore, including lifting, transportation, and installation activities, ensuring compliance with approved plans.
- Prepare technical reports and maintain records of marine surveys and approvals.
- Provide recommendations for mitigating marine and operational risks, ensuring HSE compliance.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Nautical Science.
- Minimum 10 years experience in marine operations, offshore construction, or heavy-lift marine projects.
- Valid Marine Warranty Surveyor accreditation or equivalent industry experience.
- STCW basic and advanced safety training as applicable.
- Experience with dynamic positioning (DP) vessels, heavy-lift barges, and offshore project logistics.
- Previous involvement in FPSO, FLNG, or large offshore infrastructure projects.
- Relevant certifications in Offshore Safety, BOSIET/HUET, or Marine Surveying.
- Proven experience as a Marine Warranty Surveyor or Senior Marine Engineer involved in offshore lifting, transport, and installation projects.
- Strong knowledge of marine operations, vessel stability, offshore lifting, heavy transportation, and maritime regulations.
- Familiarity with IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, OCIMF, and Class Society standards.
- Excellent technical reporting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments in high-risk offshore operations.
- Strong attention to detail and technical judgment.
