SAFETY & HEALTH OFFICER

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Safety & Health Officer (SHO) is responsible for ensuring full compliance with all statutory safety and health requirements at construction sites and project facilities.
  • This role plays a critical part in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies, procedures, and initiatives that safeguard employees, contractors, and the public.
  • The SHO will actively promote a strong safety culture, support continuous improvement, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality infrastructure projects within safe working environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement, enforce, and monitor compliance with the Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA), FMA, and all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Develop, review, and update site-specific Safety & Health Plans, Risk Assessments, and Safe Work Procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and hazard identification activities to ensure safe working conditions are maintained.
  • Lead and coordinate toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and training sessions for workers and subcontractors.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports with corrective and preventive action recommendations.
  • Liaise with authorities such as DOSH, BOMBA, and other regulatory bodies to ensure full statutory compliance.
  • Maintain proper documentation of all safety-related activities, permits, and compliance records.
  • Ensure contractors and subcontractors adhere to the project's safety requirements and policies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety standards and contribute to a positive safety culture.
  • Assist project teams in identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures throughout the project lifecycle.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 4 years of working experience in Safety & Health roles within the construction or infrastructure industry.
  • Mandatory Green Book (Registered Safety & Health Officer) certification with an active registration.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, CIDB guidelines, and relevant Malaysian regulations.
  • Proven experience handling safety functions on large-scale infrastructure projects such as highways, railways, or building developments.
  • Excellent communication, investigation, reporting, and coordination skills.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe, compliant, and productive work environment.

Job Type: Contract

Contract length: 12-16 months

Pay: RM4, RM6,000.00 per month
