Senior Enterprise Architect

The Core Banking & Payments Business EA plays a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the business architecture that underpins the Bank's strategic objectives. This role requires a seasoned leader who can engage effectively with C-suite and senior executives, conduct in-depth assessments, and provide clear architecture recommendations that shape strategic decision-making.

With a strong focus on aligning digital technology solutions with evolving business needs, the Core Banking & Payments Business EA drives continuous improvements in business architecture while ensuring resilience and adaptability in the face of changing market dynamics.

As key focus areas, this role will define and steward the target state of the Bank's next-generation core banking and payments architecture. The position leads efforts in modernization, modularization, and seamless integration of the Bank's core and payments platforms, ensuring consistency with enterprise-wide standards, regional regulatory obligations, and the Bank's strategic transformation programs. Serving as a bridge between business, technology, and delivery functions, the Core Banking & Payments Business EA ensures that modernization decisions are future-ready, secure, and interoperable across ASEAN markets.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Strategic Business Architecture Development:

• Define and maintain the Core Banking and Payments current and target state business architecture aligned to BIAN service domains.
• Identify opportunities to align IT and business strategies, enhancing business efficiency and competitiveness.
• Experience in Target Operating Model development in Core Banking, Payments, Digital Sales & Service, Core Banking, Payments, Wealth, or Insurance domains (Core Banking and Payments are mandatory, additional domains are a strength).

2.Leadership in Core Banking & Payments Business Capabilities:

• Own the core banking and payments target state architecture and lead discussions with business & technology stakeholders to continuously align the target state roadmap.
• Drive initiatives that translate core banking and payments capabilities into architectural designs that support business transformation.
• Maintain architecture roadmaps, capability heat-maps, and application rationalisation for the core banking and payments domains.
• Effectively communicate core banking and payments architectural plans and strategies across the organization proactively.

3.Governance and Standards Compliance:

• Ensure that business architecture and initiatives comply with all regulatory standards and align with enterprise-wide architectural standards.
• Govern the implementation of business architecture standards across projects and initiatives.

4.Innovation and Research:

• Ensure solutions meet next-gen enterprise journey requirements (e.g., cloud, AI, adoption & etc.).
• Stay abreast of industry trends and developments in global banking, payments, and financial services.
• Produce insightful research on future trends and potential business impacts.

5.EA & Regulatory Alignment:

• TOGAF 9.1/10, BIAN Service Landscape & Archimate 3.
• MAS TRM (Singapore) – Technology Risk Management for core and payments platforms.
• BNM RMiT (Malaysia) – Controls on outsourcing, cloud, and resilience.
• OJK MRTI (Indonesia) and BOT (Thailand) – IT outsourcing/cloud governance.

6.KPI / Success Measures Owned

• Develop and maintain the Core Banking and Payments target state architecture, acting as the trusted Enterprise Architect for business and technology leaders to align all digital initiatives with Group strategy
• % of core banking and payments modernization initiatives delivered against the target state roadmap.
• % of Architecture Review Board submissions approved with no high-risk exceptions.
• Reduction of core banking and payments legacy technical debt (% of modules re-platformed, API-enabled, etc.).

Qualifications and Experience:

• Typically brings 15+ years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture, including at least 5 years leading core banking and/or payments architecture within financial services.
• We are particularly interested in senior architects who have shaped modernization strategies, led large-scale transformations, and influenced C-suite decisions in these domains.
• Bachelor's degree in business, Information Technology, or a related discipline; Master's degree or professional chartered qualifications in Accounting, Banking, Finance, or Markets (CA, CB, CFA, CMT) are a strength.
• Demonstrated track record in core banking replacement, payments modernization, and large-scale business architecture initiatives that align with enterprise-wide strategic transformation and technology objectives.

Skills and Competencies:

• Demonstrated leadership presence and credibility to lead, influence, and shape architecture discussions with CxO and senior executive stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to translate complex business challenges into clear architectural strategies.
