The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network ( has been working under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General since August 2012. The network is led by Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs and is building a global network of universities, research centers, civil society organizations and other knowledge centers in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). National and Regional SDSNs have been established to accelerate practical problem solving for sustainable development at local, national, and regional levels. These networks are very active and are playing a leading role in localizing the SDGs in their respective regions.
The SDSN Asia Headquarter (hosted by Sunway University ) is seeking a dynamic and talented individual to help develop and manage National and Regional SDSNs in Asia, and support their efforts to localize the SDGs. Based in the Kuala Lumpur office of the SDSN and hosted by Sunway University, the postholder will report to the Director – Operations and Finance and Senior Network Manager, and work closely with the SDSN Global team. The position may require international travel occasionally.
- Work with and support several National and Regional SDSNs in establishing their structures, developing and implementing ambitious work programs, and mobilizing resources.
- Support the membership drive of the SDSN in Asia and the establishment of partnerships and regional coordination with the objective of expanding SDSN’s impact, mobilizing funds and/or developing opportunities for covering geographic gaps.
- Build SDSN services for its members, including communications platforms, databases, capacity building, and templates.
- Assist the Senior Network Manager to manage the budgets associated with network activities.
- Represent the SDSN at meetings and conferences.
- Prepare and contribute to SDSN publications.
- Support new and special initiatives of the SDSN.
Requirements:
- Possess an advanced degree in Economics, Development, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
- Passion for the mission of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
- Minimum four years combined relevant experience.
- Successful record of project management, including the ability to motivate others and the flexibility to respond to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding English oral and written communication skills. Full proficiency in one or more other languages is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage partnerships and client relationships at a senior level.
- Eligible to work in Malaysia.
