The
Junior Design Architect role involves producing high quality project design deliverables in construction documents of design consultancy and construction projects under the supervision of the Senior Design Architect.

In essence, the Junior Design Architect can work on any/all phases of development including Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration.


Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Scopes include end to end process for Consultancy and Design & Build projects: Initial Meeting/Ideation, Concept Development, Selection of Architecture/Interior Finishes and Fixtures, Presentation, Client Management, Presentations, Architecture/Interior Specification Documentation and Drawing Set, Sample boards, Project Management, Timeline for Coordination of Works
  • The Junior Design Architect attends client meetings to identify goals and determine requirements and needs for the space and in turn, to outline client design objectives and present ideas.
  • Produce design input and present conceptual/schematic design, assist in verification of drawings with endorsement prior to proceeding to the next stage in accordance with ISO requirement, along with cost estimating for client presentation and sign off to move forward with next stages.
  • Assists in specific design and production team assignments at all stages including space planning design and development of detail design and any design input/requirement/changes during the preparation of the tender/construction drawings.
  • Maintain a daily task list for assigned projects discussing time allotments, schedules, and delegations.
  • Prepare, participate, and assist in regular project team meetings pertaining to project tasks, deliverables, and milestones, and ensure required documentation are completed. Write clear, articulate meeting and communications notes.
  • Liaise, coordinate with the stakeholders, check all drawings and be responsible on all matters pertaining to submission drawings to Authorities and Tender/Construction Drawings.
  • Coordinate, check drawings at all stages and be responsible on all including but not limited to B&W projects as assigned and submissions by Contractors, etc.
  • Assist the Directors in managing and implementing the Building Contracts. To be agile, responsible, and accountable under the Law (Legal responsibility), Client and Contractors (Contractual responsibility) and Public/End-User at large (Moral Responsibility).
  • Attend regular internal and external design team meetings and assist the Senior Design Architect on the conceptual and technical side of the design process.
  • Conduct periodic site inspection and resolve arising site issues. Assist in planning, managing, supervising the work produced by consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers as it is carried out.
  • Close projects efficiently and support the project team on rectifying issues and wrapping up projects as quickly as possible. Complete project closeout/handover details, documentation, and storage of records.

Requirements:

  • Degree in architecture or a related field.
  • 12 years of experience preferred.
  • Excellent technical drawing skills.
  • Strong communication, project management, and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and software programs such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, knowledge in 3DSMax is an advantage
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulatory standards.
  • Language communication: English and Bahasa
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 9AM6PM; may work some weekends due to construction progress
  • Amenable to work in Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur
