OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

  • To support countries to take sustained, systematic and effective action to reduce common risk factors for noncommunicable diseases and conditions (including injuries), address health risks caused by environmental factors, and support WHO stakeholders and countries to address the social and commercial determinants of health, in particular gender and inequity.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • Collect and analyze data on health trends. This includes using data to identify health problems, track progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Support advocacy. It is to raise awareness of importance of healthier population and promote evidencebased policies and interventions through effective communication strategies.
  • Provide technical assistance to national and local governments on public health issues. This includes analyzing root causes of the problem, developing and interventions based on global and regional guidance and national context.
  • Contribute to the policy development. It includes facilitating the development of policies, guidelines, and frameworks to address priority health issues, ensuring alignment with global health standards and best practices.
  • Build subnational and communitylevel initiatives. This includes building relationships with community leaders and stakeholders, and mobilizing resources to address health problems.
  • Foster partnerships. It includes collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and international partners, to promote multisectoral approaches to public health challenges.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential:
University degree or equivalent in public health, epidemiology, health management, or a related field from a recognized institution.

Desirable:

Advanced university degree (Master's level or equivalent) in public health, epidemiology, health management, or a related field from a recognized institution.


Experience

Essential:

A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in public health at the national and international level, including experience in program management, health policy development, and implementation of public health interventions.


Desirable:

Experience in UN/international organization and experience in policy development, NCD prevention, social determinant, environmental health and/or healthy ageing at international and national levels.


Skills

  • Project management skills: It includes the ability to develop and execute project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resources, with sound understanding of political and technical elements.
  • Data analysis skills: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret health data, identify trends, and draw evidencebased conclusions to inform decisionmaking processes
  • Oral and written communication skills. It includes the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, deliver presentations, and effectively communicate complex public health concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills. This includes the ability to work collaboratively and establish effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, and maintain a high standard of personal conduct;
