Reports To:
CAM Head of Department, CAM Assistant Department Leader and Senior CAM Programmer

The CNC CAM Programmer (Entry-Level with certificate or diploma) is responsible for converting CAD models into machine-readable instructions. This role ensures the efficient and accurate machining of components, focusing on maximizing productivity and maintaining high-quality standards.

The CNC CAM Programmer collaborates closely with engineers, machinists, and other team members to develop effective machining strategies and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the production process.


Key Responsibilities:

CAM Programming: Develop and write CNC programs using CAM software based on CAD models and engineering drawings. Generate tool paths and select appropriate tools and cutting parameters for efficient machining operations.

Simulation and Testing: Conduct simulations of CNC programs to verify tool paths. Make necessary adjustments to programs based on simulation results machinists feedback.

Collaboration: Work closely with CAD designers, engineers, and machinists to understand project requirements and manufacturing constraints.

Team communication: Communicate effectively with team members to ensure accurate interpretation of design intent and manufacturing capabilities.

Documentation:Maintain detailed records of CNC programs, tool selections, and machining parameters. Document modifications to programs for future reference and continuous improvement.

Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks on CNC programs to ensure they meet design standards and tolerances. Identify and report any discrepancies or issues for resolution.

Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support and assist in troubleshooting machining issues with machinists during the setup and operation of CNC machines.

Learning and Development: Continuously develop proficiency in CAM software and machining techniques.

Adherence to Procedures: Follow company policies, procedures, and best practices related to CAM programming and machining. Comply with safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • Work location in Chan Sow Lin area, Kuala Lumpur
  • 6 day work week: Monday to Saturday 8.00AM 5.00PM

Qualifications:

Education: Certificate or diploma in CNC machining, mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, or a related field.

Experience: No prior experience required; internships or coursework in CAM programming and CNC machining are beneficial.

Skills:

  • Exposure in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Exposure in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Basic understanding of CNC machining processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documents.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
