About the role:

  • Directs the daily General Ledger, Fixed Assets & Reporting processes and functions which include Business Planning and Consolidation (SAP); whilst ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures with respect to both.
  • Coach and develop the team to meet service standards expected through structured training and on the job coaching.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with other finance departments to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Ensure General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Banking and Treasury enquiries are responded to and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Proactively manage issues and escalations by ensuring all stakeholders are properly informed and updated.
  • Cultivate customer service culture in team that results in a positive customer experience for GBS stakeholders
  • Achieves accounting operational objectives to provide accurate and reliable accounting information by reviewing:
  • Bank reconciliations
  • General ledger journals for input into SAP.
  • General administration and month end tasks as required.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation.
  • Reconciliation of Control Accounts, Provision and Prepayments.
  • Fixed Assets Register reconciliation to general ledger, Fixed Assets addition, depreciation run and fixed assets adjustment journals.
  • Intercompany reconciliations.
  • Develop understanding of cash transactions and reporting across the business to enable improved reporting and accurate reconciliations with no long outstanding items.
  • Review and comment on the monthly Record to Report Operational Performance Report.
  • Monitors and analyze the team's work to develop more efficient procedures, solutions for operating systems and procedures while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Support Project Lead for adhoc roll out of new transitions, divestments or acquisitions, or system go lives into the GBS in financial systems or processes related to RTR.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Degree in Accounting/Commerce and hold a Professional Accounting Qualification (or currently pursuing)
  • Demonstrates understanding of taxation requirements
  • Possesses advanced accounting skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Highly developed selfmanagement skills, including time management
  • Demonstrates ability to manage, develop and coach direct reports and build a positive team culture
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to manage a large team serving more than one time zone
  • 10 to 15 years' experience in an accounting role, with supervisory capacity, preferably in a Shared Services Environment.
  • Previous experience with SAP preferred
