Overview:


Responsible for managing a team of chemists and technicians, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of analytical testing, maintaining compliance with regulatory and safety standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in analytical techniques, and a commitment to quality and safety.

General job scope:

  • Provide accurate, reliable, and timely analytical results of samples as an independent internal party within the facility.
  • Manage the availability of laboratory equipment to meet testing requirements of the facility.
  • Monitor and evaluate quality control performance to maintain a high standard of reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards, including relevant quality management systems.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee staff competency development and strive to create a strong and capable team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily management of the Laboratory.
  • Supervise and coordinate all activities within the Laboratory, including sample preparation, testing, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Develop and/or implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for analytical methods, instrument operation, and quality control procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards.
  • Ensure that laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and validated to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Ensure the management of equipment maintenance to ensure normal operation of equipment, including management of equipment spare parts and consumables.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely generation of analytical test results, reports, and documentation in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and interpret analytical data, perform statistical analysis as needed, and communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of laboratory activities, experiments, and test results for traceability and compliance purposes.
  • Implement and maintain quality management systems to uphold the integrity and reliability of analytical testing data.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, address nonconformities, and implement corrective and preventive actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with R&D team to transfer analytical methods from development to the production environment.
  • Strengthen the management of safety, quality, technology, equipment, and other work within the laboratory, and formulate various assessment systems within the Laboratory to ensure the realization of the company's goals.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction within the Laboratory.
  • Responsible for the contact and coordination between the Laboratory and other Departments and Sections.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor Laboratory personnel, including analytical chemists and technicians.
  • Complete any temporary tasks assigned by company in a timely manner.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in Analytical/Industrial/Applied Chemistry or in Chemistry, or in a similar field.
  • Minimum 10 years of analytical laboratory experience in crude/palm oil refining, oleochemicals or chemical manufacturing industry. Preferably to have at least 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledgeable with equipment such as Gas Chromatograph, Inductively-Coupled Plasma Spectrometer and familiar with test methods related to Jet Fuel and Diesel/Gasoil.
  • Proficient in any Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and data analysis software.
  • Knowledgeable in relevant local legal regulations and ISO9001 certification requirement.
  • Possession of any regulatory or industrial certification is advantageous.

Salary:
RM12, RM20,000.00 per month
