ERM is seeking a motivated Consultant to join our Malaysia office to support the Nature Positive service offering, which could include advisory and technical services, project development or the provision of wider nature positive and biodiversity solutions to our clients. This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert global consulting company on challenging environmental projects for large industrial and global clients. Responsibilities will include:

  • Support on the design and implementation of biodiversity and physical environment baseline surveys in both terrestrial and marine environments.
  • Preparing biodiversity and impact assessment reports and associated management/ action plans to meet international lender standards (IFC, EPIV, ADB etc) and in alignment with the TNFD requirements.
  • Gain technical knowledge of the processes pertaining to the collection of baseline data, including the usage of service providers such as IBAT, IUCN etc.
  • Developing an understanding of how impacts and dependencies on nature and water are interpreted and assessed.
  • Consult/ Advise on the voluntary and compliance carbon markets, and how nature-based solutions can be utilised to meet carbon offsetting requirements.
  • Support on the design of nature-based solutions project to demonstrate benefits across climate, biodiversity and community.
  • Interpretation of spatial information to gain an understanding of the existing landscape conditions of project sites.
  • Provide support in the team by undertaking research and data analysis for the environmental and social managers with the broader team.

Education/Training/Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Natural Science, Ecology, Biodiversity or related field
  • 4- 6 years of applied experience in biodiversity subjects.
  • The individual should have attributes to become a strong consultant (team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter that takes initiative, versatile and has a service mentality).
  • Use of IBAT and other biodiversity databases
  • Complex survey design and analysis
  • Candidates should possess strong oral and written communication skills, keen orientation to detail, an eye for professional presentation, and recognized organizational abilities.
