The Business Service Center (BSC) at Merck & Co., Inc. is responsible for delivering global financial processes in a timely and efficient manner. As an Employee Expense Management Analyst, you will play a critical role in executing and delivering financial services and processes across various business divisions and markets in the JCAP region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolve employee expense management inquiries and discrepancies
  • Execute and perform controls related to EEM process and systems
  • Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks in the travel and expense process, recommending and implementing improvements
  • Conduct trainings and workshops to educate employees on expense policies, tools, and best practices
  • Communicate and provide guidance on travel and expense policies, ensuring consistent understanding and adherence across the organization
  • Collaborate with various organizations to resolve process and/or technical issues across multiple ERP systems
  • Properly and effectively escalate issues that cannot be resolved in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and expense guidelines to support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity
  • Identify solutions to improve quality of service, productivity, and effectiveness, and plan, communicate, and execute the best solutions
  • Participate in local or global EEM projects related to system enhancements and technology initiatives to streamline expense reporting and reimbursement
  • Effectively manage and prioritize workload efficiently and accurately while maintaining a positive customer service culture

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
  • Ideally minimum of 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting department of a multinational company
  • AP experience is required
  • Expense Management experience is preferred
  • Experience working in an organization providing services across multiple markets or geographies
  • Business-level English and Japanese language skills (N1 or N2) required
  • Experience in using SAP is desired

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills required
  • Intermediate to Advanced PC skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required
  • Demonstrated commitment to education and professional development
  • Ability to operate independently and remain focused through change or uncertainty
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive management style to implement new processes
