The Smart Maintenance Suite (SMS)'s vision is to enable plant maintenance excellence globally in BASF. The product aims to improve overall work productivity of plant maintenance workers through a simplified user interface. The solution architect role will meaningfully contribute towards shaping the architecture of a global digital platform and closely collaborate with a diverse team across the globe for a product that is unique and first of its kind in the industry.

Responsibilities and Key Activities:

  • Designing scalable and secure solutions leveraging Azure cloud services.
  • Architecting and implementing microservices-based applications for improved efficiency and flexibility.
  • Collaborating with development teams to integrate Angular and Ionic front-end frameworks.
  • Utilizing NestJS for building efficient and maintainable server-side applications.
  • Conducting code reviews, providing technical guidance, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Identifying technical requirements, evaluating existing systems, and proposing strategic solutions.
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements and present technical solutions.
  • Guiding and supporting a team of developers and being a mentor to them.
  • Advising and setting up DevOps tools as and when business needs require in order to deliver a holistic and stable platform architecture.

Education:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Business Informatics, or a comparable field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a solution architect.
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership role.

Technical & Professional Knowledge (mandatory):

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect with in-depth knowledge of Azure services.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency in front-end development using Angular and Ionic frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of server-side development with NestJS.
  • Hands-on experience in cloud-based solutions deployment and management.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and drive technical initiatives.
  • Experience in Agile ways of working.
  • Comfortable working in a multinational/culturally diverse environment.

Technical & Professional Knowledge (additional plus/nice to have skills):

  • Familiarity with SAP/ERP systems.
  • DevOps knowledge, including tools like Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelining, Docker, Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge in delivering B2B digital solutions.
