Technical Engineer / Senior Technical Engineer

The Technical Engineer / Senior Technical Engineer will provide technical support for Solmax's range of geosynthetics products, focusing on applications such as reinforced slopes and walls, basal and piled embankments, subgrade stabilization, marine structure and shoreline erosion protection. This role requires a proactive and collaborative approach to influence the use of our products, support internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to product development and marketing initiatives. The candidate should possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  1. To support APAC sales strategies and promote the sale of specific products as requested.
  2. To provide technical support to Solmax sales force and clients in APAC and the region as assigned for the full range of products manufactured by Solmax Geosynthetics with specific emphasis on civil and geotechnical engineering applications such as subgrade soils stabilization, reinforced soil wall and slope, basal and piled embankment, geo-environmental and hydraulic engineering works, etc.
  3. To undertake technical design works in supporting project specific sales and specifying the solutions using products offered by the company.
  4. To develop, manage and follow up all projects in the pipelines, and update them periodically.
  5. To prepare and deliver technical presentations to Solmax sales team, external designers, engineers, and users of Solmax products, related projects and services as assigned.
  6. To provide and coordinate technical support in relation to company products and services to internal and external stakeholders. This includes responding to internal and external requests in a written and/or verbal form in a professional manner.
  7. To initiate the publishing and presentation of products specific technical papers or equivalent in seminars and conferences as part of contributions to increase the company's exposure.
  8. Serve as the technical contact point, strategist and take the lead for all technical aspects of Solmax products & customers' request, and as assigned.
  9. Coordinate product material testing and evaluation to support future or existing projects.
  10. To participate in activities intended to improve technical literature, sales and marketing related promotional support information, and presentations for technical sales & marketing purposes.
  11. To provide support to R&D and product development projects assigned.
  12. Organize seminars/webinars and product technical training to promote Solmax products.
  13. Participate in industry activities/committees, which directly relate to Solmax products and role in the geosynthetic industry, to increase Company's networks of customers & engineers.
  14. Maintain awareness of industry developments that may affect product sales and/or may provide new market applications and opportunities for the company.
  15. To assist in developing strategies to improve the business competitiveness and profitability of Solmax products including the development and management of action plans to ensure corporate objectives are achieved.
  16. To review and manage product technical aspects with the objective of achieving competitive advantage over Solmax's main competitors, and implement a program to educate Solmax internal sales staff, design engineers/consultants, owners and clients accordingly.
  17. To perform other technical related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Must hold a bachelor's degree or advanced educational studies in Civil or Geotechnical engineering or equivalent disciplines.
  • Few years of working experience as Design Engineer in civil/geotechnical engineering consulting firm is preferred.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Capable of defining and resolving problems in dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Good command in English and Malay languages include reading, writing and speaking.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multi-tasking job responsibilities.
  • Exhibit resilience in the face of challenges, maintain a positive and adaptable approach to overcoming obstacles.
  • Place a high value on teamwork, fostering collaboration and contributing positively to collective efforts.
