Legal Counsel (Contract)

Goodpack is looking for a highly skilled and hands-on regional Legal Counsel (1-year contract) to join our dynamic global team. You will be responsible for handling a wide range of legal, contract, commercial, and strategic matters primarily for the APAC and EMEA regions, with additional support to the US as required. We will value your broad understanding of commercial and compliance issues that face businesses in multi-jurisdictional settings, your ability to balance competing priorities/stakeholders and your experience and interest in using legal technology tools to optimize efficiency.

What You'll Do

Your role is to provide legal support to the Group General Counsel and the Goodpack business units across the APAC and EMEA regions.

Contract Management
  • Draft, review, advise on, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including sales, procurement, and leasing contracts.
  • Ensure contracts are compliant with local laws and align with the Company's risk profile and commercial objectives.
  • Provide legal support and advice on contract terms, risk mitigation, compliance and regulatory requirements and other strategic matters.
  • Assist with drafting, updating, implementing and maintaining contract models, legal templates and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide proactive, forward-thinking strategic and practical legal advice to support the Company's business operations in the APAC and EMEA regions (potentially US as required).
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business teams and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with external legal teams to provide consistent advice that keeps the big picture in mind.
Compliance & Regulatory Matters
  • Work with the Global Legal Team to support and maintain compliance programs to address applicable laws and industry regulations across the regions.
  • Monitor regional legal and regulatory developments and advise on their impact on the business.
  • Develop and conduct compliance training to the business on relevant risk areas.
  • Support and maintain internal policies and training programs to promote legal awareness within the organization.
  • Oversee data protection and privacy compliance.
  • Assist in the resolution of commercial disputes with customers, partners and suppliers.
  • Work with the Global Legal Team to identify potential legal risks and implement strategies to mitigate exposure.
Legal Technology
  • Support the continued development of Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools and AI-driven legal solutions.
  • Evaluate, integrate and optimize legal technology to improve legal team productivity and contact management.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • Law degree from a recognized university with admission to practice in a Commonwealth jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 6-8 years' post-qualification experience, preferably in-house in a B2B environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft, review and negotiate complex commercial contracts.
  • Understanding of regional legal frameworks and ability to work with business to prioritize, analyze and mitigate risk effectively.
  • Agile, adaptable, flexible and able to manage competing priorities with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team in a global environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster/manage relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency and interest in legal technology tools and optimising efficiency and effectiveness of the legal function.
  • Excellent fluency in English is required, with additional Chinese language skills preferred for reading Chinese documents and communicating with Chinese counterparts.
