**Summary**:
Fugro currently has an opportunity for a Geotechnical Operator to join the Marine Site Characterization Operations Team based in Malaysia.

As a Geotechnical Operator you will assist with the acquisition of quality geo-data and samples via the operation of various specialized deployment equipment, downhole tools and seabed data acquisition systems in adherence to industry-wide contract and technical specifications, Company procedures and standards.

Your time will be spent offshore in the field, generally in the Asia Pacific Region, but you will have the opportunity to travel globally.

**Who you’ll be working with**:
You will be working under the direction of the Party Chief / Offshore Manager and will work alongside other members of the offshore team who will be a mixture of your direct team members of Electronic and/or Mechanical Technicians plus others offshore team members involved in the overall offshore geotechnical drilling operations such as Drilling Supervisor, Driller, Assistant Driller, Rig Mechanic, Rig Electrician and Roughnecks.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the preparation, set up, testing and maintenance of the geotechnical tools, equipment and systems used to acquire geotechnical data and samples offshore.
- Responsible for the safe operation of all geotechnical data and sample acquisition equipment.
- Supervise the Electrical or Mechanical Technician on shift.
- Responsible for the acquisition and interpretation of high-quality geotechnical data.
- Responsible for the acquisition of high-quality samples.
- Assist the on-duty Geotechnical Engineer with the collation of relevant operating logs and test reports
- Responsible for troubleshooting and to deliver solutions that keeps the equipment performing to the required level.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently, think ahead to the next procedure and plan accordingly, and respond appropriately in emergency situations
- Manage equipment inventory and resupply
- Working 12 hour shifts that typically start at either 12:00 or 00:00hrs.
- Attend and participate in the pre-shift toolbox talk thirty minutes before working shift commences.
- Responsible for on-shift compliance to the Project HSE Requirements according to Company QHSE Policies and Life Saving Rules.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Minimum 2 years’ Experience of offshore downhole and seabed data acquisition and sampling systems operating including but not limited to sound knowledge of Fugro WISON, Fugro SEACALF, APVDB WISON, APVDB ROSON, equivalent Geomil and Datem Systems.
- Relevant Diploma or Armed Forces equivalent in Electro-Mechanical, Electronic, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experienced and competent when using IT Systems and Software.
- Proficient communication skills in both written and spoken English.
- An optimistic, team-orientated disposition.
- Good level of physical fitness to pass the stringent offshore medical requirements.
- Flexible to travel internationally and work offshore for up to 180 days per year.
