Wilhelmsen Ship Management is one of the world’s largest third-party ship managers originated from Oslo, Norway with over 20,000 employees including our seafarers with a portfolio of more than 450 vessels and counting. We are currently looking for a Vessel Cost Controller to join our team. This position will be located at Kuala Lumpur Sentral (Menara 1 Sentral) and it is easy to get to by public transportation as it is located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts for vessel operating expenses (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX)- Track and analyze actual vs. budgeted expenses and provide regular financial reporting to management- Work with the Fleet Managers to review cost overrun areas and propose recommendations based on budget and forecast reports- Perform detailed financial analysis on OPEX, Dry dock, CAPEX and other non-opex additional costs of vessels- Ensure that all OPEX and CAPEX costs are correctly captured, including preparation of OPEX and CAPEX entries- Lead or participate actively in Opex and Capex process innovation to improve accuracy.- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to improve the efficiency and profitability of the fleet operations- Assist with the development of financial models, including scenario analysis and sensitivity testing- Collaborate with the Accounting/Procurement team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting- Perform ad-hoc analysis and projects as required
**Qualifications**:
Mandatory requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field- At least 5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance, and preferably 3 years of experience from a controlling position- Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting- Knowledge of relevant accounting software and systems- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills- Attention to detail and accuracy- Experience in the maritime industry is a plus
