**ROLE SUMMARY**:
Do you want to build a career and create a legacy, while also improving the lives of people? In SOLS Foundation we transform the lives of B40 Malaysian youth with knowledge, skills, and motivation to move them out of poverty towards the middle class.
Join our program team as an Instructional Designer and contribute to the core effort of providing the B40 with education, training, personal development, and employment support.
Our programs are designed specifically for the communities we serve, with their input and cater to their needs. Our current focus is the rural Orang Asli and Orang Asal communities, and urban low-income youth.
As an Instructional Designer, you get to experience a program from beginning to end. You start with research and analysis, which you conclude with skills and knowledge mapping. Module design and development follow, and then you test and evaluate it in the field. Once you’ve made it impactful, you get to launch it and see participants learning and growing thanks to your hard work.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**In this role, you will**:
- **Design and develop curriculum**:
- Plan and conduct primary and secondary research to gather information for program and module design;
- Use research monitoring and evaluation data to inform instructional design processes;
- Design and develop teaching, training, and assessment materials;
- Evaluate and revamp existing teaching and training materials;
- Design and develop SOPs and standards for curriculum design and education;
- Create supporting materials for our online learning repository (e-learning module storyboards and video scripts, study materials and resources, etc.);
- Contribute to the development of education technology using instructional design standards;
- Lead sub-projects that require cross-departmental collaboration.
- **Deliver modules and programmes**:
- Test new modules and teach existing modules to various audiences, as per SOLS Foundation methodology;
- Train and guide other team members in curriculum development and teaching new modules.
- **Carry out administrative tasks**:
- Prepare project planning and progress reports as necessary;
- Document and process research data;
- Manage participant information;
- Manage module and learning materials repository;
- Coordinate deployment of tasks with relevant parties;
- Carry out post class or programme administrative work.
**EXPECTATIONS**:
**In this role you will be expected to**:
- **Demonstrate passion, motivation, and care in serving the B40. **Our mission is to enable the B40 to achieve middle-class outcomes, so that they come and stay out of poverty, and you play an important role in achieving that. You need to act with a strong sensitivity towards the reality and needs of the communities we serve.
- **Collaborate with all departments and project teams.** It’s important that you’re comfortable to engage, reach out, and communicate with everyone.
- **Adapt to the needs of the community and various programmes we work with**. The lives and needs of our participants are complex and changing. To be able to support them, we have to keep up, and constantly adjust and improve our services.
- **Be in the community**. You need to know who you serve, so you have to meet them where they are. Whether for piloting programs, research, or evaluation studies, you will need to travel independently or with the team to Orang Asli, rural, urban communities, and partner locations.
- **Be enthusiastic and driven to learn and self-learn.** We serve the B40 mainly through education, so it is essential that we are learners, seekers, and open to making mistakes and growing from them.
- **Share your knowledge and guide others.** We are all happier and grow faster in a place where we respect and help each other.
**BENEFITS**:
**What’s great about this opportunity?**
- You join the journey of a very experienced, innovative and adaptable nonprofit that served more than 750,000 participants so far;
- You create educational materials that can benefit thousands of participants for several years;
- You work with a welcoming, caring, dedicated, motivated and enthusiastic team;

- You learn and develop transferable skills and knowledge that enable you to increase your expertise and grow your leadership skills;
- You have a chance to contribute from the ground-up to the efforts of making Malaysia a middle-to-high income economy.
