Operational Risk Analyst

**Job Scope**

To support the Head Operational Risk in establishing risk management strategies and capabilities to optimize the company’s risk vs return on capital employed in-line with the prevailing regulatory requirements.

The incumbent is responsible for assisting in developing and managing a robust operational risk analytics capability through effective risk frameworks and risk management systems to enable risk informed decision making aligned with regulatory requirements and Board approved risk appetite limits. He/she shall support the Head Operational Risk in the establishment, organisation and ongoing management of operational risk and IT risk data arising from the risk management cycle (risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring and reporting) in collaboration with other control functions and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). The incumbent is also responsible for supporting the continued assessment and measurement of operational risks through key risk indicators.

He/she assists to provide continued assurance with regards to the levels of operational risk in the business in consideration of risk thresholds and appetites in line with regulatory requirements and the board approved risk appetite. He/she assists to support the business through engagement on operational processes and controls improvements as well as through operational event/incident investigations.

**Main Responsibility**
- The incumbent is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing and leading the annual operational risk identification and assessment exercises.
- Assist to conduct operation risk incident investigations to establish root causes and recommend risk mitigation actions.
- Assist to monitor operational risk key risk indicators and performs escalation where necessary.
- Assist to focus on the day-to-day collection, management and transformation of risk data while preserving a high degree of integrity of the data and the associated processes.

**Requirements**:

- University: Graduate or post-graduate level with concentration in risk management or quantitative discipline (Actuarial, Economics, Engineering, Statistics)
- AMII/CMII/FMII or equivalent insurance qualifications
- Professional certification in risk management or related disciplines is an added advantage.
- 1 - 2 years working experience in insurance, data management or risk modelling positions
- Familiarity with the risk management space of the insurance industry or financial service companies.
- Experience with managing a range of stakeholders
- Innovative character in exploring new ways of interpreting and managing risk data to achieve an effective measure of profitable balance between risks and rewards
- Good communication skills to be able to convey complex risk information to peers, senior management and key external stakeholders in a clear, concise and understandable manner
- Good understanding of operational processes the implications of changes in the company’s risk profile by single and joint risk factors.
- Clear understanding of regulatory and compliance issues and policies to ensure the company meets the expectations of regulators, credit rating agencies and investors
- Understanding of regulatory operational risk and IT/IT Security management frameworks and requirements
- Proficient in the use of large and complex datasets
- Ability to work well within a team of risk analysts
- Fluent English verbal and written skills
