Job Purpose

The Taxation Head will lead and manage the Corporate Tax team to oversee tax compliance and planning activities for the Affin Bank Group. This role will ensure that all tax obligations are met in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Group's tax compliance activities, including:
    • accurate and timely submission of tax returns
    • reasonable tax estimates, in consultation with financial reporting team
    • preparation of transfer pricing documentation
    • e-Invoicing requirements and compliances
    • assess new regulatory requirements, plan and manage or execute change (where required)
  • Lead tax planning activities to identify tax opportunities and review tax implications on business transactions.
  • Oversee tax-related projects and assignments.
  • Continuously review and recommend improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiency in tax compliance and planning procedures.
  • Establish strong relationships with tax authorities, internal stakeholders, and external auditors.
  • Identify training and development needs of team members.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities assigned by superior.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in taxation, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Prior experience in financial reporting and/or audit is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, with ability to translate into effective operational strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance business needs with regulatory and risk requirements.
