Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Process Development Engineer to join our team at Western Digital. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing mechanical process solutions to support our industry automation and manufacturing needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement mechanical process solutions to improve quality, reliability, cost, yield, process stability/capability, productivity, and safety.
  • Coordinate process development and manufacturing for NPI projects, including generating SOWs, specifications, design implementation, buyoff activities, training delivery, and related service contracts.
  • Upgrade and improve current process equipment/systems in automation capability.
  • Perform mechanical engineering and design analysis and solutions to improve quality, reliability, cost, yield, process stability/capability, productivity, and safety.
  • Responsible for mechanical process development engineering design, implementation, and integration of building systems solutions to support industry automation, jigs & fixtures project.
  • Coordinate and maintain good communication with local contract manufacturing (CM) and suppliers related to USB/SSD product and manufacturing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • At least 5 to 8 years of experience in Mechanical Design and Process development.
  • Experience in one or more engineering processes & assembly, i.e., Front end SMT Process, Backend lidset assembly, and gift box packing process.
  • Plastics/Metal tooling experience such as injection molding or stamping, secondary processes like Laser Marking/Mimaki/Inlay/decorative film, etc.
  • Experience and proficiency in mechanical design using 2D & 3D CAD tools, SolidWorks.
  • Able to generate 2D drawings with design requirement specifications, tolerances, tooling DFM, GDT, etc.
  • Experience in automation projects is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Knowledge of FEA simulation and tools.
  • Strong ownership and commitment to company and team goals.
  • Self-motivated and willing to take on challenges and improvements.
  • Able to work under pressure and required to work overtime to meet tight project schedules.
  • Good teamwork and constructive problem-solving skills, Root Cause analysis.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
