Mainframe Technical Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Technical Expert to join our team. As a key member of our production support team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability and reliability of all production applications aligned with your subset of applications within a line of business supported by your manager.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Problem/Incident Management: Responding to and resolving technical issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Pro-Active/Preventive Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks to prevent downtime and ensure optimal system performance.
  • Change/Release Management: Coordinating and implementing changes to applications and infrastructure to meet business requirements.
  • DR/BCP Management: Developing and maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure minimal disruption in the event of an outage.
  • Risk & Compliance: Ensuring that all technical activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of technical processes and procedures.
  • Reporting: Providing regular status reports to stakeholders on technical issues and resolution progress.
  • People / Training: Collaborating with colleagues to provide training and support on mainframe technology and processes.

The ability to interpret financial information, identify key issues, and put in place appropriate controls and measures.

Governance
Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight, and controls in the business, and overseeing changes if necessary.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct. Take personal responsibility for embedding high standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.

Skills and Experience
  • IBM Mainframe tools
  • IBM JCL/CICS/COBOL/VSAM
  • Control-M
  • JAVA & API
  • ITIL
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Information Technology related fields.
  • Strong technical knowledge in IBM tools like CICS, COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and mainframe development related tools.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in mainframe applications development and/or production supports.
  • At least 3 years' experience interacting with internal and external users via verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent prioritization, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities in problem resolution.
  • Team player, fast learner, self-initiative, and reliable.
  • The position will require the candidate to be on standby support for non-office hour online or batch incidents.
  • Programming knowledge in Java/API is an added advantage.
  • Nice to have:
  • ITIL certificates.
  • Prior experience in Production Support Services.
  • Experience in Banking domain applications.
