Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead and manage the Engineering and Safety & Security department at Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur, Mont Kiara. This is a key role that requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead a team of engineers and maintenance staff to ensure the smooth operation of all hotel systems, including mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and information technology.
  2. Act as the liaison between facility and service contractors for on-property needs, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
  3. Maintain all equipment in guest rooms, conduct regular safety inspections, and train staff on safety and emergency procedures.
  4. Respond to emergencies and work with corporate maintenance on special remodeling projects or capital expenditure needs.
  5. Handle unexpected emergencies and property malfunctions that affect guests and/or associates.
Requirements
  1. Demonstrate a passion for coaching and leading hotel team members to achieve team success.
  2. Ability to use a building management system for efficient hotel operations.
  3. Preferred previous hotel experience with properties or serviced residences that have over 230 rooms.
  4. Significant added advantage if previous hotel pre-opening experience in engineering and building operations is held.
  5. Possess a Degree or Diploma in Engineering studies or technical disciplines.
  6. A minimum of 5 years or more work experience in a senior role within an international chain hotel engineering department.
  7. Ability to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds.
  8. Fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; ability to converse in other languages is an added advantage.
  9. Demonstrate ability to manage and lead hotel on-site engineering functions.
  10. Thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment, plumbing and electrical systems, and relevant building codes.
  11. Experience in hotel security systems and leading security personnel is an additional advantage.
