Job Description

CIMB, a leading financial institution, is seeking an experienced Senior ETL Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into target data stores.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Provide guidance and mentorship to a team of ETL developers, fostering professional growth and skill development.
  • Task Assignment and Project Management: Assign tasks and projects to team members, ensuring timely delivery with the highest standards of quality.
  • Code Reviews: Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to design principles, standardization, and industry best practices.
  • Training and Education: Educate and train team members on new data technologies, ETL best practices, and application support methodologies, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
ETL Design and Development
  • Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and optimization of ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from diverse data sources into target data stores.
  • Collaboration with Business Analysts: Collaborate with business analysts to understand data requirements, ensuring ETL solutions are aligned with business needs.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Execute comprehensive testing across all stages of the ETL process from data extraction to loading, ensuring that final data in the target system is accurate, reliable, and ready for use.
  • Error Handling and Performance Tuning: Implement and enforce ETL development best practices, including robust error handling, detailed logging, and performance tuning to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Documentation and Change Management: Review and prepare documentation required for deployment, present it to the Change Management Committee to secure necessary approvals.
Application Support and Maintenance
  • Support and Maintenance: Work closely with the application support team, ensuring that all applications run smoothly, and any issues prompted resolved, as well as SLAs are met.
  • Issue Investigation and Resolution: Assist in the investigation, diagnosis, and resolution of application-related issues, minimizing downtime and disruption to daily BAU operations.
  • Maintenance Activities: Coordinate regular maintenance activities, such as patches, upgrades, and backups, ensuring that applications are up-to-date and secure.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including support teams, data architects, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless alignment of ETL processes and application support initiatives.
  • Progress Updates: Regularly communicate progress updates to stakeholders regarding ETL development, deployment, and application support activities.
  • Effort Estimates: Deliver high-level estimates (HLE) on the efforts required for new ETL process demands.
Technology Assessment and Continuous Improvement
  • Server and Application Performance: Perform regular assessments of server and application performance and utilization to identify opportunities for optimization and ensure adherence to established policies and procedures related to technology and data security.
  • Utilization Analysis: Analyze server utilization both before and after deployments and upgrades to evaluate their impact on existing Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Remediation Plans: Develop and implement remediation plans based on findings from Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT).
  • Proof of Concept Projects: Engage in the Proof of Concept (PoC) projects to evaluate the effectiveness and suitability of new data technologies.
Qualifications
  • Experience and Qualifications: 5-7 years of experience in ETL development and application support, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in ETL tools (e.g., Informatica) and data integration technologies.
  • Data Technologies: Experience in RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DB2, Oracle), data warehousing concepts (e.g., LDM, PDM), and data ingestion framework.
  • Big Data and Analytics: Experience in Big Data & Analytics technologies and tools (such as Starburst Galaxy Data Lakehouse, Trino, Iceberg, Kafka, Spark, etc).
  • Unix Environment: Experience in UNIX environment and Unix scripting.
  • Data Modeling and MDM: Knowledge of data modeling, master data management, and data quality principles.
  • Informatica Products: Experience in Informatica products, especially Informatica MDM, DEI/DQ, AXON & EDC.
  • IT System Review: Extensive experience in IT system review, design, development, implementation, and user support principles and practices.
  • Collaborative Environment: Experience working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary and matrixed environment.
