Job Description

  • About the Role:

The Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for implementing, coordinating, or supporting packaging strategy, projects, and tasks within the framework of the Sustainable Packaging 5-year Program. This includes managing industrial sustainable packaging sourcing to ensure quality, on-time delivery, service level, and environmental specifications balance with competitive pricing.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage Sourcing Projects:

The Sourcing Specialist will manage sourcing projects set up under the leadership of global sourcing as well as projects under other functions' leadership in which sourcing related tasks need to be completed.

The Sourcing Specialist will implement strategies and actions to ensure high standards of sourcing excellence and sustainable nature of packaging, across all packaging components for both in-house and outsource products.

Collaboration:

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

The Sourcing Specialist will work closely with plants' procurement and quality, finished goods outsource teams, and the entire Sustainable Packaging Program team and Project teams to understand suppliers' capabilities, facilitate collaboration on alternative materials and new components, support plants with RFQs, identify opportunities for consolidated supply (& RFQ), maintain a total picture for better best practice exchange and benchmark among plants, help shape and intermediate with GS Management, oversee the gradual implementation of packaging material specifications expanded by environmental attributes (recyclability, responsibility), ensure alignment across plants and different components as well as to sourcing SOPs and standard requirements, establish relevant SOPs and tools related to above ensuring alignment with overall GS SOPs and strategy, guide and support project teams and plants for supplier and material choices, coordinate with suppliers for new material sourcing, sampling, testing, and trials, validate material specifications, conduct potential new supplier assessment, qualification, and registration, consecutively support the Sourcing Manager in contractual conditions negotiations, and act as project team member in projects that are managed by other functional leaders under the Sustainable Packaging 5-year Program and take on the sourcing related tasks.

Performance Metrics:

  • Supplier Performance:

The Sourcing Specialist will support the Sourcing Manager to manage suppliers to ensure they meet the company's expectations, regulatory and risk management program, and supply KPI requirements. Additionally, they will support the effort of the Sourcing Manager for appropriate systems, processes, and key performance indicators (via supplier scorecard) to be in place.

Requirements:

  • Education:

A Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, etc., is required.

  • Experience:

Preferably minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement, engineering, and manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge and Skills:

The ideal candidate should have knowledge, experience, and skills in cross-cultural negotiation and business environment, knowledge of packaging materials including local and global sourcing (preferred), understanding of Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, and Engineering background would be an added advantage, and experience within packaging sourcing in the following countries is an advantage: Malaysia, Lanka, Thailand, or China.
