**Salary**:
Competitive international package with housing and relocation allowances.
**Job type**:
Full Time, Fixed Term
**Start date**:
August 2025
9 March 2025
**Job overview**:
Sri KDU International School Klang is the newest member of three Sri KDU schools, located in the Klang Valley area outside Kuala Lumpur. We retain a large, well-equipped campus, with a small but quickly expanding student body, with primary school currently being one form entry and transitioning to two classes in each year group. Our children benefit from freely available access to exceptional, age-appropriate, modern facilities, as well as highly favourable class sizes. We are on track to become an AIMS school (Association of International Malaysian Schools) this academic year, after which we will follow our fellow Sri KDU Schools in joining FOBISIA and COBIS.
**About Us - What Can You Expect?**
We are a close-knit, happy and supportive team that is part of the Primary section of our EYFS to Year 11 campus. We deliver the British EYFS through a holistic, play-based approach which places children’s interests at the heart of our teaching and is inspired by Reggio Emilia and Planning in the Moment pedagogy. In Years 1 and 2, children follow the Cambridge Primary International Curriculum, while retaining the active, stimulating learning experiences from EYFS. Our Year 1 and 2 classrooms are oversized to facilitate play, physical movement and creative, hands-on learning. We provide children with natural, homely learning environments and open-ended and real-life learning materials that reflect the needs of the children and prioritises independence.
It is an expectation that Sri KDU teachers have a detailed knowledge of not only the developmental characteristics and learning needs of the students they teach, but also their personalities and who they are as people. This requires real empathy and skill in meeting the wide variety of individual learning and pastoral needs of international school students with their differing linguistic, cultural and educational circumstances.
Sri KDU teachers:
- Are given access to top-quality professional learning
- Participate collaboratively with colleagues across XCL Education and other regional international schools to improve their practice.
- Hold themselves accountable to the highest professional standards in their interactions with colleagues, students and parents.
**What are we looking for?**
We are looking for a warm and enthusiastic Head of Early Years and Key Stage 1 who wishes to grasp the opportunities of our modern campus and facilities and use them to inspire colleagues to deliver a safe, happy and successful early learning experience for all children.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Promote and support the development of a stimulating early learning environment which celebrates children’s development and promotes child-led learning
- Lead and support staff across EYFS and KS1, including providing mentoring and professional development support for members of the team
- Have high expectations both of what pupils can achieve and how they should behave in EYFS
- Ensure that information on tracking pupil progress is effectively used to improve teaching and learning; to inform parents; and to support whole school self-evaluation and development
- Share responsibilities for curriculum development, then support colleagues in the delivery of the curriculum through learning visits and year group team meetings
- Foster positive relationships with parents and work in partnership and collaboration to positively involve parents in their child’s education
Experience and personal attributes:
Only qualified teachers with a relevant degree relating to primary school education are eligible; specific qualifications in early childhood or primary school are preferred. _Diplomas and language related qualifications do not meet requirements._
- University educated with an Honours Degree - recognised teaching qualification (UK QTS or equivalent) is essential
- At least 3 years' hands on, whole class, full-time teaching experience in an EYFS and/or KS1 setting is essential (experience in both is highly desirable and should be flagged)
- Experience in leadership within EYFS and/or KS1, including supporting and mentoring teachers is desirable
- Familiarity with the following EYFS approaches is highly desirable: Plan, Do, Review, Helicopter Stories, Planning in the Moment, Continuous Provision, Loose Parts and Process Art
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of EYFS to KS1 transition is desirable.
- EYFS and KS1 specialists based in the UK or British-based international schools are most welcome to apply, particularly COBIS, CIS and FOBISIA schools
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
Leadership Attributes:
- Exemplary values-based leadership based on leading by example
- Commitment to uphold and support the school ethos
- Enthusiastic support of co-curricular activities and community
