Shift Technician

I. The Shift Technician is responsible to performs day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance in a data center facility for 100% facility uptime. This position is required to perform shift duty including weekend and public holiday.

II. Supporting with monitoring operations, conducting routine rounds inspections (4 hourly) and on-going assessment of the facility systems operations and performance.

III. The position requires an awareness of critical environment operating practices and protocols and routine conduct of hands-on maintenance work on a variety of critical facility systems and equipment in an operating critical environment.

IV. Work requires strong formal conduct of operations skills, good technical knowledge, personal accountability, and flawless execution of work activities commensurate with a highly critical environment and associated expectations for exceptional customer satisfaction and confidence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- At the direction of Lead Engineer or Shift Engineer Lead/Senior Technician, maintains, monitors, and performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical equipment, which may include the following: mechanical (including HVAC, computer room air conditioners, chillers, and plumbing) electrical (including UPS, DC battery systems, PDU, generators, transfer switches, and switchgear), cabling (including data and voice, broad band), fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems (including fire alarm, duress, card access, CCTV). Also responsible for operation and maintenance of critical equipment such as refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, electrical, hot water systems. Monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; ventilating and hot water heaters; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; record readings and make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Responsible to witness maintenance carry out by vendor or OEM vendor is thorough and in good workmanship. Ensure maintenance vendor follows closely to the maintenance work method statement without deviation and sign off for each work step. Should abnormality occur, technician should call for work halt and escalate to monitoring centre and seek for Lead Engineer work clearance prior proceed to perform troubleshoot and/or investigation.
- Routinely performs all work in strict accordance with governing Change Control Application Process, standard operating procedures, and maintenance work instructions.
- Operates and monitors critical system equipment and components. Oversees Change Control Application Process work efforts (including 3rd party contractors) for the safe and compliant operation, maintenance (corrective and preventive), and modification of critical equipment. With the approval from Shift Engineer Lead to disables and enables fire alarm control panels and systems.
- Perform routine round inspections every 4 hourly that covering all plant rooms such as switch rooms, chiller plant room, pumps room, fire sprinkler pump room and water tank room, generators, diesel storage, UPS and battery rooms, CRAC room, Cooling Towers, etc. Ensure system normal operations and report to monitoring centre immediate when abnormality observed.
- Supporting the operations of monitoring center, which is the nerve centre of the Data Centre, involving standing in for shift engineer to ensure building management system is continuously man, handling of incident management (work includes escalation, reporting, investigation, conduct root caused analysis, remediation/rectification through incident closure) and work order management. Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns.
- Deliver all tasks for customer’s service level agreement are in compliance at all time, the SLA covers such as incident escalate to customer within 15 minutes upon reported to monitoring centre, written incident report issue within 24 hours, etc.

**Requirements**:

- Professional Trade Certification (in Technical Studies e.g. Electrical, Air-conditioning, Plumbing, Electronics, Building Services) or Diploma in an Engineering field with min 2 to 3 years related work experience
- For Chargeman, a valid Chargeman license of min. A0 certification is compulsory
- Strong technical knowledge with hands on knowledge/experience and understanding of critical data center systems, including ACMV, Standby emergency power, uninterruptible power supplies, and associated infrastructure
- Position will be contractual for 6 - 12 months convertible to permanent
