Associate Price Reporter, Flat Steel

**About the Role**:
**Grade Level (for internal use)**: 09
**The Team**:
The Associate Price Reporter, Flat Steel will join the close-knit steel and steel raw materials team in Asia and participate in the daily market reporting of flat steel in Asia. You will also be in a thought leadership position, helping Platts further cement its leading position through high-quality work. Based in Penang, you will engage with key market participants and nurture relationships with key stakeholders in the market.
**Responsibilities and Impact**:
Gather commodity price information, produce price assessments fully in line with Platts’ rigorous and published methodologies, and write commentaries
Regularly engage with market participants, showcase Platts expertise, and explain our methodology
A naly z e and explain fundamentals and market developments affecting prices
Develop, expand and maintain contacts relevant to the market area of coverage, including regional producers, consumers, traders and analysts
B ecome a market expert, the go-to person in the industry, and expand your knowledge of the Asian metals industry
**What W e’re L ooking F or**:
**Basic Required Qualifications**:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Desire to take ownership of a market in informational and relationship terms
Strong command of written and spoken English
Ability and willingness to engage with market participants on a daily basis
Ability to write reports from information gathered on a daily basis
Ability to work in a team setting
Conscientious user of Excel
Critical thinking abilities, strong sense of initiative and attention to detail
**Additional Preferred Qualifications**:
Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese preferred due to China market coverage
Experience in market reporting and analysis, and in metals or other commodity markets would be advantageous, but not necessary
