Position Title: R&D Executive / Chemist (Cosmetic)

Job Scope / Responsibilities:
1. Product Development & Formulation Design
- Independently or collaboratively develop and optimize formulations for skincare, cosmetics, and topical wellness products (e.g., massage creams, lotions, sprays).
- Depending on project needs, may assist in the formulation or technical support of functional foods (e.g., nutritional drinks, softgels).
- Responsible for organized documentation and reporting, including formulation records, test reports, and development summaries.

2. Sample Preparation & Process Optimization
- Prepare lab-scale samples and document formulation and process parameters; evaluate physical appearance, stability, scent, and sensory attributes.
- Support pilot trials and production scale-up; optimize manufacturing processes and draft/update standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor mass production to ensure formulation consistency and stable product quality.

3. Ingredient Screening & Efficacy Assessment
- Collect and analyze data on raw materials; screen and evaluate natural, herbal, and functional active ingredients that align with product positioning and regulatory requirements.
- Design and conduct basic efficacy tests (e.g., moisturizing, soothing, sensory evaluation);
assess the need for third-party lab testing.
- Ensure compliance with ingredient regulations (e.g., banned/restricted substances, INCI listings).
- Actively engage with suppliers to identify cost-effective, technically competitive, and innovative raw materials.

4. Stability & Preservation Testing
- Plan and conduct stability studies under various conditions (room temperature, accelerated, high temperature, light exposure), and analyze data trends.
- Monitor key product parameters such as pH, viscosity, microbial count, and preservative system performance.
- Assist in evaluating and sourcing suitable lab instruments and tools to improve efficiency of the R&D and production process.

5. Cross-functional Collaboration & Project Execution
- Liaise with the procurement team to confirm raw material specifications, technical data, and supplier qualifications.
- Collaborate with QA/QC, regulatory, and marketing teams to provide necessary technical support for claims, documents, and product launches.
- Prepare regulatory submission files and export documentation, including formulation breakdowns, COA, TDS, MSDS, and other technical files.
- Work closely with production to troubleshoot issues and ensure smooth implementation of R&D outcomes on the production floor.

6. Industry Trends & Continuous Learning
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, ingredients, and formulation techniques;
compile internal R&D trend reports.
- Continuously enhance expertise in herbal actives and cosmetic science; actively participate in

knowledge sharing and internal training sessions.

7. Core Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and adaptability in dynamic environments.
- Excellent cross-department communication and collaboration skills.
- Able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and responsive to evolving business needs.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 3 years of R&D experience in skincare, cosmetics, or topical product development with proven independent formulation capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biological Sciences, Food Science, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), or related fields.
- Familiar with relevant cosmetic regulations (preferably in Southeast Asia, China, or EU/US markets), for example, MAL and NOT.
- Experience with herbal ingredients or bio-active compounds is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Mandarin (reading/writing) is an advantage, especially for herbal ingredient research.
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments and basic stability testing methods.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and project coordination skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
