About the Role
1. Analyse medical history information or past claim experience to determine benefits and rates for new policies.
2. To provide mentor to underwriters on case management, review and assess underwriting qualities. Conducts training for underwriting team.
3. Engage with business peers/partners and Life planners to provide technical consultation/advice.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- To coordinate, support and lead Agency Underwriting daily activities including develop strategic plans to better manage resources effectively and achieve Department targets. As key SME to support Agency Underwriting related projects with higher take up rates and rapid expansion of agency business.
- To supervise, mentor and coach for leading and developing team members’ professional growth. Regularly holds constructive mentor, conversations with team member offers clear, concise and informative feedback to advise development. Identify successor and develop young talent within the team
- To communicate and coordinate optimally with various stakeholders to support business growth. Conducts nationwide underwriting workshop/clinic for Agency. Provide solution and guide agents on complex cases or Larger Sum assured cases.
- To ensure continuous compliance of regulations/procedures set for New Business Underwriting Department.
- To perform other responsibilities and duties this may be assigned from time to time by the Section Head/HOD in order to meet operational and/or other requirements. Take part in New product development / systems improvement for new products, iPoS & ALPP related system for both Conventional & Takaful.
- Review and approve higher underwriting authority up to RM 9mil for all impairments.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Possess a tertiary qualification preferably in Medical Science or equivalent experience.- Preferably with at least 8 years working experience in Life Insurance Industry in medical and financial underwriting, legal aspect of life insurance.- Strong interpersonal & delegation skills.- Able to share any ideas, suggestion or guidelines clearly with the team.- Able to build good relationship & trust at all levels.- Right demeanor & ability to produce high quality work under pressure.
