**About the Company**:
APPLIED AGRICULTURAL RESOURCES Sdn. Bhd. was established in 1986 and is an associate company of two highly successful public-listed Malaysian companies, Boustead Plantations Berhad and Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad. As a leading research centre in tropical plantation crops, our core activities involve research in crop improvement and production, providing advisory services for plantation crops, and producing and selling oil palm tissue culture ramets and seeds.

**About the Research Unit**:
The Pests and Diseases Unit at AAR is dedicated to carrying our research and development (R&D) initiatives, and also providing advisory on Pests and Diseases to our principals. The R&D outputs will be intergrated into the existing Good Agricultural Practices. The unit is performing R&D works related to some of the major pests and diseases, and beneficial insects related to oil palm and rubber, namely leaf eating caterpillars, rhinoceros beetles, termites, Ganoderma, and a few other oil palm diseases.

**Your Role**:
We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant to become part of our team. You will play a crucial role in supporting our operations, research and development programs, and administrative functions.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in laboratory, nursery, and field experiments related to oil palm pests and diseases.
- Conduct R&D works related to the fields of fungal and bacterial diseases, insects, weed sciences, and rodent.
- Assist in plant/root/soil/rodent/insect samples collection and preparation for molecular/metabolomic/proteomic studies.
- Handle microscopy works, microbial isolation, culturing, and propagation, and microbial inoculum production, disease census, vegetative growth measurement, data recording, and compilation.
- Demonstrate the capability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
- Other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Company & also to assist in commercial services (isolation and identification of microbes).

**Qualifications**:

- Possess a Diploma degree (Biology, Microbiology, Medical Technology, Plant Pathology, and life sciences).
- Good command of Bahasa Malaysia is required while strong English language skills are considered advantageous.
- Possess strong result-oriented and problem-solving skills, and willing to go extra mile.
