Compensation and Benefits Specialist

The Compensation and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for planning, revising, implementing, and administering the compensation and benefits plan and projects relating to market comparison and analysing of compensation and benefit data, developing of pay and benefit structure in line with University’s strategy and market trend. This would also involve in revision of the necessary policies and reporting.
The role holder will work closely with Head and Manager of Human resources in revising the compensation and benefits structure to ensure that competitive package is implement aligned with the University’s strategy. This position would be a 6-month contract basis and shall report to the Head of Human Resources.

**Responsibilities**:
- Conduct ongoing market survey to gather compensation and benefits data on emerging trends and best practices
- Comparing benefits and compensation plans, job classifications, and salaries through data and cost analyses
- Designing reports and recommendations based on research and analysis to Management team
- Evaluating and revision of relevant policies following the changes in the pay and benefit structure
- Work closely with Head and Manager of Human Resources in implementing the pay and benefit structure ensuring that practices are aligned with University’s Strategy
- Communicate and liason with external consultants on the activities involving in data collection and data analysing
- Enhancing reporting functionality on pay structure and cost analyses
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
**Essential**:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business, finance, data analysis, statistics or relevant field
Experience
**Essential**:
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience working as a compensation and benefits specialist
- Has the experience in HR practices and compensation cycle and benefits management
- Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities as required to analyse trends, surveys, and spreadsheets to determine compensation and benefits strategies.
**Desirable**:
- Strong knowledge of market trends, statistics and pay scales
- Ability to compile, checking and analyze results of compensation survey data and provide pay gaps analysis
- Experience in working with large datasets, derive insights and present information through visualization and reports
Competencies, Skills and Knowledge
**Essential**:
- Fluent (verbal and written) in English and another language e.g. Bahasa Malaysia
- Good interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of people and acts as a point of reference.
- Good communication skills with ability to write clear and accessible policies and processes
- Strong sense of purpose and responsibility; self-motivated
- Strong service ethos
- Accurate with attention to detail
- Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Excel
- Project management skills - able to effectively plan, prioritise and lead short term and long term activities to ensure that projects are delivered within the specific period.
- Excellent organisational skills on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, able to meet deadlines and manage conflicting demands on time
- Able to make independent decisions which have moderate impact to the operation.
**Desirable**:
- Understanding of higher education environment
- Working knowledge of Malaysian Labour law and employment practices.
- Experience of working as part of small or remote team
- Demonstration of a values-led, evidence based and outcomes driven approach in dayto
