Job Purpose

You will be part of the Data Governance Office. You will be assisting the local in-country Data Governance lead in driving programs and initiatives to raise the data literacy across the Great Eastern entities in Malaysia and enhance the value of data assets. You will support the local Data Governance Lead as well as the Head of Data Governance and Management to achieve the organisational goal and objectives, to steer and drive the organization towards a data-driven mind set, and enable innovations while preserving the confidentiality of data.

The Job:

- Facilitate sharing and adoption of data governance best practices through governance consuls and committees within the various divisions.
- Guide users through data governance concepts, explaining the benefits of data governance policies and procedures within the context of the user's needs
- Work with the Data Governance Lead to shift mind-set and embed data obligations and accountabilities into everyone's day to day activities, and to develop self-service data culture to improve overall business efficiency;
- Implement data governance programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations, raise the value of data and enable data democratization;
- Be part of the secretariat team to support the local Data Governance Committee and local Data Governance Working Group
- Assist Group Data Management & Governance in implementing programs and initiatives to raise the overall data literacy and data control obligations across the Group to enable intelligent workforce;
- Assist in the maintenance of all local data governance artefacts (e.g. framework, policies, standards and guidelines) to ensure compliance with regulations, relevancy and up-to-date to meet the organization's strategic objectives and business needs;
- Highlight any potential concerns/risks and proactively shares best risk management practices;
- Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Our Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree from a recognised tertiary institution with at least 8 years of work experience where at least 4 years of hands-on experience in data governance, data management, compliance or data-related programs in insurance or financial services industry.
- Demonstrate aptitude in data governance activities and best practices
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to communicate and manage different levels of stakeholders across the organisation and navigate through conflicts and differences competently and with ease.
- Ability to identify, challenge and consider opportunities outside of conventional thinking to resolve problems and address gaps to improve the current state & embrace new changes.
- Detail oriented and analytical, with good problem solving, organizational skills, and program management knowledge and experience
- Extensive experience working in team and with excellent team spirit;
- Exposure and understanding on data, technology risks and technology landscape (e.g. data warehouse, AI and ML) will be a bonus;
- High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork
