**The Opportunity**:
WCS is leading a multi-country project identify and protect climate-resilient reefs throughout the Sulu-Sulawesi Sea and develop sustainable financing for effective management of protected and conserved areas and build resilience against the impacts of climate change. The project will be implemented by WCS in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.
WCS is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to lead the implementation of this project and provide support to other related regional marine activities on an ad-hoc basis. Under the supervision of the Southeast Asia Regional Director, the Project Coordinator will work across all aspects of project planning, delivery and direct data collection, reporting, and evaluations of activities funded by Trafigura. The Coordinator will be responsible for the project’s monitoring and evaluation framework, including tracking project Key Performance Indicators and their means of verification; leading the planning and implementation of coral reef monitoring activities, and will conduct semi-annual reviews, analyze project data, develop project reports, and provide feedback to support adaptive management. They will also ensure that monitoring and evaluation is coordinated and aligned with WCS global coral reef monitoring strategies and technologies to ensure efficient, robust, and credible impact measurement.
The Project Coordinator will be assigned to carry out these responsibilities in close collaboration with the Country Directors and lead marine staff in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, and the Program Coordination Unit in Indonesia. The Project Coordinator will also work to ensure that grant outputs align with other ongoing efforts and projects in the region, and provide support to these projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities

Develop a two-year project work plan with associated budget
Coordinate the implementation of site based activities according to the agreed workplan and budget
Contribute technical expertise on ecological monitoring of corals / fish / bleaching
Coordinate regular country
- and regional-level meetings as required
Supervise activity implementation, including training and support to staff working on the project. Conduct field visits to supervise activities and resolve issues as they arise
Support capacity-building activities across staff, partners, and community, when applicable
Develop routine tracking tools for project staff to document key metrics. Track and maintain a high standard of monitoring and evaluation of Key Performance Indicators
Analyze project data
Coordinate technical reporting for country
- and regional-level activities, ensuring the timely submission of Intermediate (six-monthly), Annual, and Final Project Execution reports.
Contribute to the communication of project outputs, ensuring that staff follow grant branding and communication guidelines. #LI-SA2

Qualification Requirements

**Qualifications required**:
Committed to the mission of the Wildlife Conservation Society
Bachelor’s degree in marine science related discipline is required. Master’s level degree is preferred. Experience can be considered instead of formal education, on a case-by-case basis.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in project management and/or coral reef monitoring in the context of marine conservation or natural resource management,
Thorough knowledge and experience in coral reef science and Marine Protected Area development/management
Ability to work independently with willingness to travel to remote areas
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English. Knowledge of regionally spoken languages is an advantage.
Experience in data analysis using statistics software (required) and MERMAID (preferred
