Health & Safety Officer

**What you will do**:

- Manage Safety Supervisor / Reporting & liaise with Client Safety Department / Preparation of Safety Statistics.
- Promoting a safe working environment by advising on safety measures, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing preventative measures
- Establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines in a workplace
- Review existing policies and measures, organize OHS training, inspect premises and work activities, investigate incidents, and prepare reports on occurrences.
- Identifying hazards, ensuring compliance with legislation, and promoting a culture of health and safety in the workplace
- Supporting the development of OHS policies and programs
- Advising and instructing on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
- Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives
- Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
- Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
- Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
- Be a member (secretary) in Safety Committee and participate and cooperate in all their activities.
- Responsible to control of industrial gases and maintain procedures to assure the safety at the workplace.
- Responsible to ensure that adequate fire fighting facilities are maintained on work site.
- Maintenance regimes -carried out inspection accordance with local requirements (Site Management By Walking Around)

**How you will do it**:

- Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management
- Conducting daily Tool Box Meeting, Check and verify workers PPE and understand the Safety Precaution. Review any accident resulting in personal injury or damage together with near misses of high potential.
- Advise management and supervisor on Safety and Health Management. Responsible to advising administration and monitoring all operation to ensure conformances to all relevant local statutory EHS requirements.
- Review any reports of deviation from expected safety norms and suggested procedures and identify the appropriate corrective action.
- Check, verify and summit all documents and permits for approval and filing system control.
- Endorsement of various permit of work system at the workplace. Review all permit in force.
- Conduct a risk assessment or HIRARC / HIRADC based on the nature of hazards. Set up EHS targets /action plan through the project.
- Conduct an inspection of staging/scaffolding to ensure strength, stability and maintain in accordance to local statutory requirement
- Conduct a regular inspection pertaining lifting equipment.
- Review all system or equipment test and coordinate these with other works
- Overall in-charge of the safety management for the project and co-ordinate with sub-contractors’ safety personnel to ensure proper safety measures are carried out on site according to the requirements.
- Leads execution and implementation of the overall safety programs and procedures
- Review and update company’s safety profile and safety manual.
- Report and liaise with the management on accident occurrence, initiate and conduct investigation on safety recommend action plan and offence (Violation / Disciplinary action).
- Ensure successful handover with zero injuries and zero issues
- Reporting Safety, Fire & Health hazards, Environmental

**What we look for**:

- University degree and 1 year suggested minimum experience, or 2 year’s degree
- 6 years suggested minimum experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 - 4 years of safety site experience
- Open to work in Kulim/Penang
- Yellow book holder
- Good Communication skills
