Safety Officer

Position Overview:
The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining workplace safety and health programs in compliance with Malaysian laws and regulations. The role ensures that all employees, contractors, and visitors adhere to the company's safety policies and procedures. The ideal candidate must possess a valid "Green Book" issued by DOSH (Department of Occupational Safety and Health) and have hands-on experience in safety management within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety Compliance & Management:
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA) and related regulations.
- Develop, implement, and review company safety and health policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, machinery, and work processes to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Prepare and maintain safety documentation, reports, and records as required by DOSH.
2. Risk Assessment & Accident Prevention:
- Carry out risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce hazards.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss cases; prepare reports and recommend preventive measures.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety controls and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
3. Training & Awareness:
- Conduct safety induction and training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Promote a strong safety culture through continuous awareness programs, toolbox meetings, and campaigns.
- Provide guidance and support to all departments in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
4. Emergency Response & Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
- Conduct fire drills and emergency evacuation exercises periodically.
- Coordinate first aid and firefighting arrangements, ensuring equipment and procedures are in place.
5. Liaison & Reporting:
- Act as the main liaison with DOSH, BOMBA, DOE, and other relevant authorities.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory reports and compliance documentation.
- Participate in Safety & Health Committee meetings and report findings to management.
6. Continuous Improvement:
- Keep up to date with changes in safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Recommend improvements to safety systems and procedures to enhance workplace safety.
- Support environmental and sustainability initiatives as part of the company's EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) goals.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Certification:
- Must possess a valid "Green Book" (Registered Safety and Health Officer) issued by DOSH Malaysia.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and liaising with government authorities.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, and related safety regulations.
- Proficient in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Familiar with safety documentation, risk assessment, and reporting systems.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Capable of influencing employees at all levels to maintain a safe work culture.
- Excellent problem-solving and leadership abilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM3, RM5,500.00 per month
