A Professor is expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the organisation unit or interdisciplinary area and play a significant role within their profession or discipline. Academics at this level may be appointed in recognition of distinction in their disciplinary area.
- To assist in preparation of PhD program on Tourism and Hospitality.
- To teach PhD Research Methodology course including Quantitative Method.
- Leading role in PhD and MPhil programs.
- Provide a high level of personal commitment to, and achievement in, an appropriate academic discipline.
- Provide academic and research leadership, strategic direction, planning, administrative control and financial management of a high order, developing and promoting the activities and services that are provided by the research units, the school, and the Faculty.
- Conduct high-level research appropriate to one of the areas in the Faculty discipline, and provide leadership, foster and promote research by individuals and other groups within the research units, the School, and the Faculty.
- Provide leadership in engaging industry, government and the community with the research units, the faculty and the university.
- Provide leadership in the management of interdisciplinary research teams, and the development of collaborative research organisations and relationships.
- Supervise graduate students, including staff, especially those undertaking PhD’s.
- Make a distinguished personal contribution to teaching in an appropriate discipline and play an active role in the development of curriculum.
- Contribute to the management of the Faculty/School, providing effective management and supervision of academic and general staff as required.
- Participate in the development of policy and strategic plans for the school and university, especially as they relate to research and development, and academic standards.
- Provision of leadership and participation in community affairs, particularly those related to the disciplines of the Faculty and in professional, commercial and government sectors, where appropriate.

**Minimum Academic/Professional Qualification**

A PhD degree or its equivalent accreditation and standing in the specified discipline is preferred (Hospitality & Tourism or Education).

Applicants will need to demonstrate:
a) A record of research excellence in an appropriate area:

- A distinguished publication record through refereed journal articles, monographs and conference publications.
- A record of leadership in research, development of research policies and acquisition of research funds.
- Evidence of collaborative research and the ability to foster a research culture with less-experienced researchers.

b) Distinguished achievement in teaching as shown by:

- A record of excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
- A strong record as a supervisor of graduate research students.
- Evidence of innovation in curriculum development, course design and course delivery.
- Commitment to delivery of quality services to students.

c) A track record of networking including collaborative projects with industry partners, government establishments, research institutions, other universities nationally and internationally.

d) Excellent people management, communication and negotiation skills, a commitment to delegated authority management approaches and the ability to focus on outcomes.

e) Experience in, and commitment to, inter-disciplinary, innovative and collegiate principles in the provision of education services.

f) Ability to lead the sustained development of the research & development units in the Faculty/School and achieve its strategic objectives.

**Related Experience**

Applicants for the rank of professor must be eminent scholars. They must have achieved, maintained and demonstrated a profound understanding of a discipline, a capacity to extend knowledge in that discipline, and the ability to communicate the results of scholarly endeavour to their peers and the profession. In appointing a staff member to professor, the University is aware that it is conferring the rare and high honour of a personal professorial appointment.

**Salary**: RM8,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
