School Counselor

**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide individual and group counseling to students to address emotional, behavioral, academic, and social challenges.
- Identify students' needs through observation, referrals, and assessments; develop intervention plans and track progress accordingly.
- Support students in developing coping strategies, resilience, conflict resolution skills, and emotional regulation.
- Promote a positive school climate by implementing programs related to character education, anti-bullying, mental health awareness, and peer relationships.
- Guide students through academic planning, goal setting, time management, and study skills.
- Assist students with transitions between grade levels and provide support for personal growth and career awareness where applicable.
- Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to identify at-risk students and provide appropriate interventions or referrals.
- Liaise with parents and guardians to support student development and provide regular updates on counseling progress when necessary.
- Refer students to external specialists, psychologists, or support services when more intensive intervention is required.
- Uphold ethical standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and care in all counseling activities.
- Organize and participate in school events, awareness campaigns, parent workshops, and staff development related to student wellness.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in school counseling and child psychology.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Recognized counseling qualification or licensure (e.g., Postgraduate Diploma in Guidance & Counseling or equivalent).
- Proven experience working with children and adolescents in a school or educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries with students, staff, and families.
- Culturally sensitive and respectful of diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Passionate about student well-being and committed to supporting their holistic development.
