Role Purpose To provide oversight and management of a programme of teacher development to support Teaching Standards, talent management and our teacher resourcing strategy across the APAC Region thus enabling the achievement of the British Council’s objectives in Teaching Excellence. Teaching Excellence (TE) will drive the success of our global Teaching business through enhanced teaching performance and innovation. We will measure performance data and intervene to enhance performance, deliver value and customer satisfaction. We shall strengthen and develop talent in our academic workforce and use research to drive innovation and Thought Leadership. Role context Teaching Excellence is critical for the ongoing success of our teaching centre operations. Our current strategy will see a focus on teacher resources and teaching excellence to help build our future success. Enhanced teaching performance and the development of our academic teams is critical to customer engagement & satisfaction and for the future of our operations. Excellent Learning and Development content, systems and delivery are essential for us to ensure we have a talent pipeline in our teaching teams to build expertise and ensure we have talented individuals and teams at all levels to guarantee quality to our present and future customers. Measurement of performance through effective KPIs and the Teaching Centre Performance Reviews (TCPR), will be essential to understand learner satisfaction, to ensure a truly client focussed approach, to support student retention and encourage recommendations. This data can be used to help us develop our Teaching Excellence plans, and understand our academic teams’ strengths and needs and help us make plans to drive excellence and through L&D, quality initiatives, and develop the capacity, skills and talent within our teams. This role, will work in collaboration with global, regional and country based colleagues, reporting to the TE lead for APAC, to ensure we successfully define, develop and implement Teaching Excellence plans with a particular focus on L&D, to drive Teaching Excellence across the region. Main accountabilities but not limited to the following: Teacher Learning and Development Work in collaboration with the TE Lead to set annual regional and cluster priorities for teacher development with Regional and Cluster Academic Leads, Regional Product leads and other stakeholders including EDI, Safeguarding and SEND leads, aligned to the global Teaching Excellence strategy and plans. Plan an annual regional L&D/CPD programme integrating global product development and global teaching excellence initiatives, ensuring projects are implemented consistently and in line with regional and global objectives and timelines In collaboration with the TE lead, manage the commissioning, development, creation or adaptation of Learning & Development resources, within the parameters of the global Teaching Excellence plan, to be delivered by the Cluster and Country Academic Managers and/or hosted on Regional/Global teacher excellence delivery channels (e.g. TE-TV/SharePoint) Co-ordinate training initiatives with colleagues in the Product team Co-ordinate with the TE lead, to contribute and deliver sessions in the Managing and Implementing Teaching Excellence course(s) Set up and manage M&E processes for the programme and adapt approach accordingly Deliver training sessions as and when required. Teacher Resourcing and Talent Management Work with the TE lead and regional and global stakeholders including Regional and Cluster Teaching Operations leads, Teaching Excellence and Cluster leads to develop and deliver a regional teacher resourcing strategy and plan Support cluster academic teams with the adaptation and implementation of the Teacher Support Programme (TSP) in markets where contract or hourly paid teachers at the foundation stage of development are part of our teacher resourcing approach Develop a regional plan for corporate standard training courses (CELTA, DELTA, Trinity Diploma, TYLEC, NILE etc.) ensuring alignment with our regional and global teacher resourcing strategy and plan Ensures EDI and SEND principles and actions are embedded into our academic work. Leadership & management Line manage the PB6 Cluster Academic Leads and the regional SEND senior teacher post Develop, manage and evaluate a communications approach that ensures teachers and academic managers are aware of development opportunities available As an experienced professional, actively contribute to the development of academic strategy across the region. Teaching Quality Management Input as L&D lead into the Regional and Cluster Teaching Excellence Action Plans Make use of teaching quality Monitoring and Evaluation data in the development and review of L&D programmes (relevant sources of data include TCPR reports, customer satisfaction surveys, M&E from project/product implementation and teacher observation) Thought Leadership Support TE Lead
