The Role:_**

The Product Development Manager Hardware is responsible for supporting the hardware PD team on the Asia based projects.

The design process requires a number of engineering builds to be undertaken by the supplier which require a level of support by the PD team. Support is required in order to progress maturity of the solution and to ensure it can be delivered to a fit for purpose technical sign off level.

In this role you will be responsible for:_**
- To work closely with product development colleagues to support technical progression of product Hardware through the design process
- Interface and communicate technically with internal and external suppliers
- Drive meetings, progress, and record and drive completion of tracker tasks after each engineering build or tool trial
- Work with the PD team to support supply chain, quality assurance, regulatory and operations teams where applicable
- Communicate clearly and effectively with Asia suppliers on behalf of the PD team.
- Ensure that the product approval elements are closed down and completed ahead of a products technical sign off
- For supporting and communicating project plans to enable PD team where applicable.
- Provide invaluable TIME ZONE based support for suppliers
- Provide invaluable ASIA Speaking support for suppliers
- To provide technical recommendations and solutions to problems where applicable
- Responsible for maintaining technical relationships with suppliers where applicable
- The role requires specific expertise of injection moulding and other electromechanical technologies and processes in order to define robust and thorough qualification programs, set appropriate expectations with third party suppliers and ensure that projects are delivered on time and to specification
- To capture technical learning and test data in comprehensive written reports

**_Main tasks_**

**_Product Development:_**
- Support hardware projects as identified and agreed
- Compilation of minutes, plans and design trackers and other documentation to progress projects through the design process
- A minimum of a good honours degree in an engineering or similar discipline
- Knowledge of regulatory affairs at a regional or international level would be beneficial
- A good engineering background with proven experience of working with teams and working effectively within a matrix organisation structure
- A good communicator, calm under pressure and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Proven experience of working across borders, regions and culture; frequent travel to Asia a necessity
- English speaking essential. Further languages an advantage
- Experience gained as a New Product Development Manager, with technical expertise in multi-component assembled devices and/or package development. Experience in the FMCG, White Goods or Consumer Electronics business category is highly desirable
- Expertise in plastic moulding technologies, knowledge of mould fabrication requirements and implications for component design and quality
- Able to manage and deliver a complex project portfolio whilst also identifying opportunities for further simplification, standardization and cost optimization
- Structured approach to executing development work, founded on definition and subsequent validation of technical models rather than simply an empirical learning approach
- Good analytical problem solving skills with ability to generate and interpret technical data, provide conclusions and recommendations for follow up action accordingly
- Commercially astute with an understanding of product cost structures and knowledge of financial considerations required to assess commercial viability of new development initiatives
