About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Microbiome Data Analysis Intern with proficiency in R programming, fundamental understanding of microbiome or microbiology, and a solid foundation in statistics. This role offers hands-on experience working with real microbiome datasets and supporting research in microbial communities.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist with preprocessing, cleaning, and organizing microbiome datasets (e.g., 16S/shotgun sequencing outputs).

· Perform data analysis includes data transformation, visualization, statistical analysis, and exploratory analysis.

· Support the creation of figures, charts, and analytical summaries for reports, presentations and publications.

· Gather and review scientific literature and public data relevant to research studies

· Support data cleaning and documentation.

Required Qualifications

· Proficiency in R, familiar with data wrangling, visualization and statistical packages.

· Basic understanding of microbiome science, microbiology, or medical microbiology - such as microbial taxonomy, host–microbe interactions, or sequencing-based studies.

· Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Microbiology, Bioinformatics,, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related field.

· Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

· Good communication skills and ability to clearly document code and findings.

Preferred Qualifications

· Familiarity with microbiome analysis tools/packages (e.g., phyloseq, vegan, dada2, DESeq2).

· Exposure to next-generation sequencing concepts (16S rRNA, metagenomics).
