Job Description

Objective of the role

To lead engineering projects and drive technology adoption within the Maintenance Department, ensuring effective delivery of CapEx, equipment upgrades, automation, and digital solutions that improve plant reliability, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Main Responsibilities

Planning

  • Develop and execute the CapEx master plan, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals.
  • Plan and evaluate new technologies and automation initiatives (predictive maintenance, IoT, SAP enhancements).
  • Integrate FSMS and EHS requirements into project scoping and design.

Leading

  • Provide leadership in project execution, ensuring cross-functional collaboration.
  • Drive a culture of innovation and digital adoption in maintenance.
  • Lead OEE and improvement projects, integrating new technologies.
  • Promote compliance-first mindset in all project work (food safety, environment, and safety standards).

Organizing

  • Manage contractors, vendors, and consultants, ensuring technical compliance and safety.
  • Oversee equipment installations and upgrades, ensuring seamless commissioning.
  • Coordinate project documentation, technical drawings, and regulatory approvals.
  • Develop technical documentation including layouts, P&IDs, and specifications.

Controlling

  • Monitor and report CapEx project status, costs, and ROI.
  • Ensure project compliance with DOSH, GMP, ISO, FSSC, and EHS requirements.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to verify reliability improvements and compliance effectiveness.

Specific

  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the superior from time to time, in alignment with operational needs and organizational goals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field. A master's degree is a plus
  • Project management & execution (CapEx, upgrades, commissioning)
  • Process engineering & technology transfer
  • Vendor & contractor management
  • Continuous improvement & innovation (automation, digitalization)
  • 7–9 years in engineering projects or technology transfer
  • Hands-on experience in new equipment installation & commissioning
  • Exposure to OEE and digital transformation initiatives
  • Well verse in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Proficient in Excel (data analysis, trending), Word (policy and report writing), PowerPoint (presentations), and Outlook
  • Electronic workflows & Project Management tools
  • Reports to Johor Bahru Plant Head
